Honestly though, each passing year continues to be an indictment on the Dubs and Warriors culture. We'll never forget that arrogant owner said they were light years ahead of the NBA. Nothing lasts forever, dummy, and now you find your franchise unable to draft and develop homegrown talent, unable to recruit viable star talent, and unable to remain consistently in playoff contention...
In the post-Durant era, Golden State is winning an average of 41.2 games per year, in 5 complete seasons. They've missed the playoffs in 3 of 5 post-Durant years, and this year, are currently the #10 seed on pace for.............~42 wins.
Light years indeed. Tough times couldn't happen to a more arrogant, pompous franchise, and as a native Northern Californian, it's personal. You couldn't find Warrior fans outside of Oakland before 2014-15, I can count on my hands how many I met in my life before then, and I grew up an hour and some change from Oakland. The Kings were always more popular, in my lifetime, until this manufactured fan base arose...
It's almost as if these mf's caught lightning in a bottle for a few years, extended their window with the uniqueness of a once in a generation player wanting to join them, and as soon as said player left, most of the success left with him...
