Because When reality sets in and life actually starts getting real (like 23 and older) immaturity and preferential bias's/treatments start going out the window.
The girl or guy will smarten up by this time and realize how stupid their old ways were.
It's called enlightenment or an epiphany , you know when you realize the errors of your ways

in the example the person didn't realize skin tones are equal. she just became desperate with the pressures of life and settled into accepting other groups. if money was no longer an issue, then the colorism would go right back into practice for her.
whereas if she actually realized skin tones were equal it doesn't matter what her bank account says, she's always going to feel that way.

White broads that actually like brehs tend to go dark. The ones that just wanna dip their toe in the water date Mexicans (mostly) and light skinned brehs.
Black women in my hood always dated brehs around their skin tone or darker. Light skinned brehs seemed to end up with light or brown skinned broads....sometimes dark.
Only thing that I remember standing out was that light skinned broads had poor taste in dark skinned men....dark skinned women always got the best dark skinned brehs but that might have been specific to my school.

You live in Canada with a bunch of immigrants the whole skin color dynamic is it the same as living in the United States. Epecially in parts of the South.or so ive noticed....in my city at least....
from my observations and experiences all the jokes, preferential treatment, slight bias's etc stopped after the age of 24/25....when bills and deadlines need to be met.
i cant remember the last time i heard a girl say ' i only date lightskins' or i ' i only deal with with brownskins'. even from white girls or non-black girls.
same with nikkas but obviously less though
at a certain point, people just grow up and realize life is too short/aint shiet.
