1) What oil reserves? As far as I know Sweden depends mainly on hydro/nuclear power, and is not an oil/petroleum product exporter, feel free correct me if I'm wrong.

2) I would argue that public welfare has more to do with it than nationalization of industries. After all, the Vikings were known for splitting the loot between themselves equally.

The ones that have been around since the 1700s are filthy rich. There's a lot more money in Virginia, Carolinas, etc than people know about Americans have a lot of migrants that came after the Civil War ended, and then another huge wave after the Industrial Revolution had already gotten under way. The old American manufacturing, and agrarian families are straight loaded b, just like the British families who were there during the Opium Trade, just like the Spanish investors in the Gold wars in Central and South America. Sweden has a lot more hegemony than most countries, meaning families have been there for centuries, so you don't see a lot of new money out of places like Sweden.
