I was just bored doing some research looking at this kurdish documentary, and I could have sworn Iraq had a kurdish prime minister for a year, so I decided to go looking, only to find all of these prime ministers are shiite and backed by Iran. :heh:

Adil Abdul-Mahdi - Wikipedia

Hussain al-Shahristani - Wikipedia

edit: oh ok I wasn't tripping they did have a kurdish president, not prime minister.
Jalal Talabani - Wikipedia

This is why ppl hate Bush and will be cursing this war forever. What makes it worse is that everyone was basically saying this would happen. And what’s even crazier and made it even worse of a strategic blunder is that around that time these mfers were legit planning on toppling one country/dictator after another. Then the idiots go in and basically hand the nation of Iraq - with all of that sweet oil, geographic importance etc., to the nation that you just declared as part of the “axis of evil.” The Bush years were so surreal. And his entire presidency was only made possible bc of the crazy recount. Really think about that shyt. That recount was the difference between all those ppl still being alive, all that money to have been used for more important shyt here - it was really a lost decade in US history if you ask me.

Are we as Americans really that naive?

The money wasted on wars would have been just given to the rich anyway.

Iran is like the most powerful country in the Middle East (aside from maybe SA). Prior to 1979, Tehran was considered a cosmopolitan, world city; a place of power and culture. Then the revolution came. Society changed, but they still are very powerful. Saddam actually helped to lessen Iranian power. :francis:

Saddam Hussein was a Sunni running a Shia-majority country with Sunnis. The reason he was so valuable was he was a counterbalance in the region. With him gone, the Shia have taken over. ISIS is basically a terrorist organization of Sunnis who rose up against the Shias who started terrorizing the old Sunni minority. That’s why ISIS could move so freely in the West, they were considered by Sunni Iraqis to be the lesser to 2 evils.

That’s why Bush I didn’t invade. He knew we’d end up having a quagmire.
