For perspective, what twitter was in 2012 is literally what the coli is right now in terms of the weight it held once you logged off. If there were real world consequences to our behavior on this site, interactions would be totally different. The funny thing is message boards are really the the last form of social media (because essentially, that’s what this is) that still operate unpoliced

People are still for the most part, anonymous. Yeah there’s moderators, but posts are still inconsequential therefor people get away with acting ways they wouldn’t anywhere else. There is no real world consequences for message board behavior


look at this site. The word fakkit is used more frequently than a 2005 smack dvd. You don’t really see people acting like that anywhere, especially when there’s no anonymity and friends and family can see what you’re doing.
