what hood you grew up in and what time period or you're just going off of stories? The hoods across America was way more savage than it is today. There was no harmony between communities and gangs, most people were just too damn terrified to say shyt and if less innocent were getting shot is only cause most people didn't go outside but for work or grocery. In the 90s black people were literally being held hostage in their own neighborhoods by drug gangs, street gangs, violent crack heads and stick up kids.

Not to mention how theft and sex crimes was also out of control.

I got biological family in Chicago. I’ve been a bunch of times. I love it there (when it isn’t freezing).

As far as Western Michigan, my uncle (by marriage) was from The Chi and has family in Muskegon. Besides Michigan Adventure when I was a teenager, I haven’t really been out that way in at least 15 years. I’ve driven through on the way to The Chi countless times though.


You’re right. There’s pockets of some VERY rough hoods all over that Lake Michigan Coast. We can’t forget Scary Gary.

I grew up during the 1k homicides a year era in the 90s.. The violence was concentrated to the projects that was up during that time.. When those projects was torn down, the people was scattered all over the city, bringing that same mentality to stable communities..
Now you have people from the projects getting into it with the inhabitants of an already stable community..

And in no time during the 90s did you have nikkas driving up and down the interstate shooting at "OPPs". Or driving up and down 147th in Dolton hanging out of car windows shooting at "OPPs".. Or standing in the middle of the street on 167th and PULASKI with a AK-47 shooting at "OPPs"..
