Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
At this point don’t tell me this crime shyt is all about poverty since most of these rappers are 6 figures if not more and have enough to get out of the hood if they really wanted too. It’s a cultural issue

Most poor people aren't criminals.

Most poor people are definitely not violent criminals.

It's more than just about poverty.

I know tjay has beef with YGz and there's history with his deceased friend smelly going back to before he was famous but he came in the game on some a boogie shyt and then when bk drill popped he hopped on that wave and picked a certain side then naturally pivoted to the bronx drill wave since he's from there, but he started doing too much with dissing dead people and bringing that energy onto him... a boogie doesn't do all of that even though he has certain ties too

that being said I hope he pulls through and stays out of the bullshyt going forward

You right but I think we oversell the whole “if I had “x” amount of money I would be out”. That’s easy to say but when you grew up somewhere and all of your family and friends are there but actually doing it ain’t the easiest thing to do.

I know it’s the right thing but still. So yea it’s cultural but if poverty is part of your culture than it kinda goes hand in hand. It’s poor decision making but I think there’s a emotional or comfort component that keeps folks in conditions that they technically no longer have to be in.

I used to believe that but the older i get the more i think it's a bullshyt excuse.

Especially if you're leaving with money. I can understand if you were poor and needed friends and family around for emotional and potentially financial support.

But when you got money there's no reason really. Y'all can talk on the phone

Yea I feel you. And I lived it myself multiple times. My parents left Philly when I was young and then I left the dmv multiple times before finally coming back for good. There are definitely things that you miss while your away that a phone call can’t replace. And building a “family” in a new place ain’t the easiest thing BUT if they on bullshyt at home, you gotta just bite the bullet.

I feel like Chief Keef is the best example of this for this era of rap.

Negativity (Kayfabe)
What happens when he survives this?

Does he change the content, or does he lean into the fact that he got shot and survived to further taunt his opposition?

Black folk aren't serious and this thread is yet another reminder of that fact.

Have you ever been banned for this trolling?

I believe this is 100% true. I still ride through the hood I grew up in on occasion, still see some of the same people I grew up around. It's a subconscious thing and it's not necessarily dangerous for me because in the grand scheme of things I'm a nobody(I consider myself successful but being real, I'm no celebrity). I can't realistically expect most people to leave their neighborhood and never come back. They probably should but it's hard to leave comfort and familiarity alone.

Why are people in here trying to give dissertations about the connection between “violence and rap” when we literally have 0 clue as to what this was over? Could have been a domestic dispute …fukking road rage … a robbery attempt or any myriad of motives behind the assault after all we do live in one of the above average violent countries on the planet …it seems as though there is a contingency of loathing individuals who’s pathological impulse is to shoehorn in some narrative regardless of circumstance…it’s bizarre to say the least …but nevertheless I hope the youngster is ok and that the criminal who committed this act is apprehended
