lil wayne would have been on def jam: icon:ohhh:
not really.

See, it can be argued that Wayne got the creativity thats served him up until now from being on Cash Money...

Def Jam has fukked so much shyt up its not even funny.

Imagine Wayne doing all that experimental shyt on a major label.

He HAD to stick with Cash Money.

:ohlawd: I agree fully with this statement

yes it's a fukked financial situation for him at cash money

but one thing I can give BIRDMAN credit for is allowing all his artists to be themselves....

Baby always said in regards to Wayne he loved allowing Wayne to just go in the studio and do his thing...

that type of CREATIVE FREEDOM money can't buy

and probably explains why Wayne resigned with them and Juvi came back

DEF JAM got to much micromanaging and limitations cause they over analyze quality control......

so ARTISTIC wise CASH MONEY was and still is the best fit

but they GOTTA DO BETTER BUSINESS ETHICS

Do you think his music would have taken a different trajectory if he was on def jam?

I don't think he would care to do the experimental shyt...I think the drugs kinda fukked him up

Do you think his music would have taken a different trajectory if he was on def jam?

Absolutely.

Look at Drake.
I think Stunna was just whoring him out to whatever could make money...Plus the drugs etc

:birdman:had him trying to play guitar:heh:

Drake has more label approved creative license than any other major artist right now.

More than Beyonce. hov. Ye. etc.

all of them.

Even Eminem.

Drake can drop a soundcloud freestyle or freebie and have it end up on radio mix-shows around the fukking world in under a day.

Thats. POWER.

And that came because Drake had the license to truly be as creative as he wants. He damn near invented a lane thats probably beaten to death now (not saying he wasn't influenced himself).

You think any other major artist could drop all that free experimental shyt AND invest in all those other artists drake has? I mean not to mention he's discovered and endorsed more success in other artists than anyone else in recent history.

Read this interview when Take Care came out: http://www.mtv.com/news/1676900/drake-making-take-care/

That album would have never dropped anywhere else.

yeah.

cash money is clearly where he should be but he feels he needs more support and that may be a restructuring.

Again, the problem is with social media these guys often speak out before they truly get a chance to clear the air.

imagine not being able to reach birdman then thinking that was your only option out.

this wouldn't have happened 10 years ago
