You know what's funny? You remember that God bless amerika video? Probably not
But when I saw it with my homie for the time first time, I said "this is weezy's chance to actually say something." About 2 minutes into the video I said "Well, never mind, this is shyt."
All he did was talk about himself, and say typical wayne-isms. If he applied himself, Weezy could give us a unique perspective on life, fame (the downsides), women (I mean actual women not how many thotianas he's fukked in the ass), riches, being black and famous, police brutality, the black struggle, the music industry, and the world itself, but instead he releases subpar music with subpar lyrics.
Don't get me wrong, I think Wayne is a top 50, easily. He's got songs for days. Some great, some pretty awful. Carter 1-4 was a great run to me. He can rap his ass off, he can flow, he can be clever, but he can't write music that will make you think about things in a meaningful way. He doesn't really have "headphone music", or music to contemplate things to when you're alone. One user on here said that's what it takes to be an all time great, and I would agree with him. Weezy has unfortunately not made much music like that, but he gets by on sheer talent alone.
