I'm surprised the OP even listens to wayne, given all the stuff that he props up and the stuff that he downplays. @FreshAIG explain yourself.

hes in my top 50 based mostly on name. maybe even top 40. only tape i really rocked with like that was C1, which was mostly gillie's album.

all hype aside, he never even surpassed juvenile & BG.

Some of these people you all name in these top 10 lists are just nostalgia or people you feel you must list else get clowned. Where you're at in your life can determine how you feel about certain music. A lot of people here grew up in the 90s when music and life in general was more gritty. That music spoke to that generation. So of course the artists from that generation are going to be revered. Some of these guys were not great lyrically.

90% of Lil B's fanbase is part time listeners what u tryna say :mjpls:

Wayne has wowed me more than that boring ass corny ass rapper Krs ever could breh

Ol The ruler 09 sounding nikka talmbout some "bububu us real hip hop heads.."

:camby:

Because you like your music simple and shallow. I expect these things from cats like you.

Which is why you're bringing up Lil B out the blue. Nevermind that Lil B is irrelevant to this discussion. But to simps, irrelevant shyt becomes relevant and relevant is deflected.

SMH at the Wayne hate by a asap rocky fan :russ:

Live.Love.ASAP is more memorable than Wayne's entire discography. It's obvious now and will become really obvious as the years pass.

If only for the simple fact that Rocky rhymes on more artistic and challenging beats than Wayne ever did.

But you ain't trying to hear that though :troll:

I need to know what yall listen to because lyrically, nobody can stand up to dude and it's not even close. It's rare that I think my opinion is FACT, but in this case aint nobody touching Wayne lyrically and I can make an argument for flow too. His song making ability aint never been top notch but if you talking straight up rapping, he's winning against anybody by a fukkin land slide

As a music minor Im telling u right now..u dont know what depth means in music

U have no idea how to even recognize real depth in music as it pertains to music theory and its relation to creating it

Dnt be talking thta condescending nonsense when you cant even explain the significant difference between polyphonic or heterophonic textures as it deals with the fusion of vocals and instrumentation

Fck outtta here..U dnt know depth
Im bringing lil b "out the blue" to counter that point u made about fanbases

KRS is boring to me..its that simple..u tryna talk liek the ruler 09 to discredit that is real funny when u stay in his threads complaining about that same thing about him

Nikka fall back bruh..dont be accusing mufckaz of shallow or simple music preferences when u can even barely recognize musical depth at ll...
Fck outta here b
Stop tryna take the ruler 09's gimmick :camby:

music theory, polyphonic, blah blah.

Music is about soul, cac. That's the depth. Any lame can talk technical shyt if they study it. There's a substantial amount of people who know way more music theory than your average hip hop producer, and yet can never make a dope beat to save their lives because they don't feel the soul of hip hop.

This isn't to disrespect those who study music for real. I have a huge respect for it. But it's soul first, technical shyt second.

And my point stands: if Wayne impresses you more than KRS-1, hip hop depth just aint your thing.

Hip hop might not be your thing, period.
