Jay only struggles because he is a skills morph.
Which means he really has no technical base as an artist.
The level of technical prowess he was able piggyback off of, is no longer available to him.
In the form of the jaz's, sauce money's, Chris, beanie.
shyt even, lupe's technical base is no longer available to him to piggyback of.
Which is why his loss of skill is so profound.
If you are a real elite emcee historically,...
Your skill base matures and is always present.
Since, jay's skillbase is that fu-schnick bs,...
Plus, he never really developed his own that fit the sonic landscape like he was supposed to do.
You get the fall off in skill that made him garner acclaim or get note.
The real goat candidates like the krs, ra, g rap's never lose their technical base.
The fraud goat candidates easily show they are no longer proficient with their skillbase that brought them acclaim.

Jay and weezy will never assail back to the level of rhyming and technical prowess they exhibited because they are skill morphs and biters. In the case of weezy,...
Weezy is a gw voice over talent.
So, he never had a technical base.
Plus, the technical base that brought him acclaim has to he paid for.
Or, was lost administratively and probably will never be re-acquired.
As ymcmb/cmr, is a cop&blow based label that has a track record of never really operating in good faith.

what is a technical base, and how is it developed?

A technical base is the base level of skill an emcee employs.
That is typically readily identifiable by their syllable count, on the rhyming portion bar to bar of their verse.
When jay had acclaim, as this great technical marvel in rap.
he was leaning on The technical base of jaz and sauce money.
Then he later morphed into an amalgamation of beanie's technical skill base, and jaz/sauce.
for example, you can hear him skill morph into beanie's technical base on jigga, my nikka, rather clearly.
Or, streets is watching you can hear him lean on LL cool j's technical stylings to help his slow flow.
Later, on you can just him hear him clearly bite, hey lover for excuse me miss conceptually.
shyt, on lost ones he leans on common's skillset/direction/ approach from retrospect for life. shyt only difference , between lost ones and retrospect for life is the engineering of the beat, and a bit of instrumentation.
as a matter of fact,...
On wtt, jay sounds so much like pusha t.
I had to speculate if pusha wrote that shyt.
As the struggle rhymes on wtt are so far from what gave jay acclaim at the dance , it was ridiculous.
The more than obvious ones are the Lupe type records,...
That maybe Lupe did not write them all.
Yet, some of them sound so much like Lupe.
It points to jay piggybacking or having them ghostwritten.
None of those records sound like the skillbase where jay garnered his original acclaim.
I like to give jay the benefit of the doubt like jay wrote the records, he does not sound like himself on.
Yet, there is no way you are that high level of an emcee and your technical base fluctuates that much, in your career.
Where there are no traces of the skills jay used to employ, that garnered him his original acclaim.
Plus, you show no flashes of the technical base you used to employ.

We have not gotten a real jay spaz moment that is reflective of his original skill base that garnered him acclaim since
rocla intro and streets is talking.
Everything after that has been a complete different skill ase project to project with no real upside after the Lupe era.

The closest thing that Jay snapped on is that Hot 97 freestyle back in the Kingdom Come era.

I do not remember that one.

Also,...
I remember he sounded close to himself on, the Sean carter mixtape with laser in your ear on, too.
After that,..
That was like the last time we heard, jay being jay on a full project.

Man, the older I get the more I understand this......It's just not easy to stay motivated to do the same shyt year after year after dominating and being successful for so long especially when there's literally nothing he can do to be as successful or more successful than he was in 2008.....imagine that............then life gets in the way. nikka had a drug problem, seizures, went to jail, he has kids, he has to live and enjoy what he's worked for, rap isn't as competitive as it used to be.......He probably lost all motivation......Wayne has pretty much ran out of shyt to talk about a long time ago (T.I said it best, how many different ways is it to say I'm getting cheddar more)......and you know what's crazy, he's still killing the clubs. bytches Love me was a hit, Rich as fukk smash, Tap Out, Wowzers......It's like even if he's giving you C material he's still winning with his current fan base, making hits, touring.........before you look up you realize, you're slipping. He may not be the highest selling rapper but he's signed Drake and Nicki Minaj.......He's winning regardless off having the biggest male and female rapper.

I've never been much of a Wayne fan but I do listen to his music and he had one hell of a fukking run........Like if you take the music just between The Carter 1 and Carter 3, he's had a legendary career. If 2pac didn't exist (and was making hundreds of tracks and movies at the same damn time) I'd say he was the hardest working rapper ever.
:snoop: @ "legendary" career. wayne has always been overblown in my eyes. yea he did crazy numbers sales wise for carter 3 and carter 4 but he was always at the forefront of the shyttiest rap era ever . he emerged outta the shytty ringtone era of southern trash. he doesnt have any timeless hits to me either. most of his hardcore stans prop up mixtape songs of him spitting over other rappers beats..thats shyts already old. mc hammer did numbers too but at least he has "cant touch this"..no ones gonna play "lollipop" 20 years from now..wayne will be a blip in the hip hop radar when its all said and done.. quantity does not equal quality.
