A lot of folks in this thread don't know what they're talking about. I work in the industry here and the club scene is doing fine. This summer was actually better than last summer, and summers are dead here because everyone heads to the shore. In Center City, you got Rumor that plays EDM and HipHop, place has been packed recently. Whisper is under going renovations and is supposed to open back up in November. G Lounge closed but a new spot is set to open there in October. They're building a new 4 floor club on 16th and Chestnut. You got Sound Garden on Spring Garden and Delaware Ave. Down the block you have The Roxxy and Bamboo Bar. LIT on 2nd and Spring Garden. After hours spots (till 4am) like Recess, Zee Bar and Pulse. Not mention all the bars and restaurants that turn into "clubs", like Silk City, Blue Martini, Cuba Libre, Kung Fu Necktie, etc. Then you have all the countless bars.

But like someone said there are no true designated hiphop venues. They tend to end up turning real ghetto quick or people dont come out because they dont want to pay $15-$20 to get in, or they dont want to abide by the dress codes. This past 4th of july, Power 99 had a party at Sound Garden hosted by Nikki Minaj. The place was less than 50% full. The #1 hiphop station in the region could not get people to come out for a party ?? :dahell: At the same time, Sound Garden and places like Rumor and LIT book a decent or well known EDM DJ and the place gets packed to capacity. :dj2:

All this is true....but yeah there's no real hip hop/urban spots.....only ones are Reserve and Aura (aura can't even have a DJ anymore since losing their special assembly license), it's literally bar status. They have mixes that play for the whole night.

The dayload parties at Kings Oak are mostly hip hop, but that's only the last Sunday of the month. And honestly the last 2 have been kinda whack since they moved next to North Shore.

There has been rumors of Jay Z opening a club on Chestnut St within in the next two years. I wouldn't be surprised because all of that development and stores opening in chestnut st that was once only seen in Malls.

Right next door to that Modells is where they are building the 4 story bar/club, I mentioned in my earlier post.

I was talking with someone the other day that brought that up. I might of been a bit tipsy but if I recall correctly the promoter ended up having issues with moshulus management and moved the party.

Half of you posting have never even been to my city so you can excuse yourselves from this conversation. Philly always fukked with Wayne's music but never really fukked with Wayne himself. Philly is not a Lil Wayne town it's TOO real for him. No nightlife like Miami or LA would have. I'm from Philly so I have always had fun there. Just recently when I went back I had a great time partying down Old City/ Center city. Maybe my opinion is biased but in Philly at least there is a clear distinction between hood clubs and other clubs.. Moreso than in other cities.
