all of them can rap, Wayne is talkin about star power

Drake the last dude we seen with legit star power (albeit manufactured)

Kendrick raps so good that people are drawn to him, but he himself doesn't have any star power outside of the booth

those are the only two new guys who can drop a track or have an interview that impacts the industry

Cole bigger than Kendrick right now in terms of the average fan
theres 3 that can do that

but that's just cause of how fukked up rap is nowadays
quality wise those dudes can, just not on a popularity level

but Joey and Chance are on the come up and i can see them being on Coles level in the future

but the thing is with cole he's super lowkey

i don't view high sales as having star power

i go outside i see nikkas tryna be like drake, i see ultra hotep dues tryna be like kendrick, i don't see nobody tryna be like Cole even though they may buy his albums more than the other two

He's saying that in his era you couldn't just get on in his era without putting in work. nikkas like Desiigner and Lil yachty seemingly came outta nowhere, had one or two songs go viral and now all of a sudden they are doing the same shows and having the same platforms that veteran MC's have. It didn't go down like that back in the day.

You weren't gonna all of a sudden become well known to the public before you had a local/underground following. It's easier to get into the game than it ever has been and the pool of talent is bigger and diluted as fukk with people who don't even really need this or want this rap shyt on a serious level.

He isn't a legend, never was.

Yes he is.

And this is coming from somebody usually known to go hard on Whoopi.

Wayne's definitely a legend, it's just that his legend has nothing to do with content or skill, but rather sales and popularity. When you hear other names of legends, Wayne is at the bottom. He was never as good as his fans always claimed. The only thing he was ever best at was bombarding people with a massuce amount of music. Him and his fans are a huge reason rap looks like a total joke today. Weezy F Baby, and the F is for fukking failure.

Lil Wayne had bars, he had punch line...there was a time when you would discuss with your boys about rap and you would "that nikka said.....insert clever rap lines"...with most of these new guys you cant...no bars..no metaphors..just beat and hooks carrying their ass. Their songs are about nothing.

Clearly you've never listened to his old mixtapes/albums :francis:

:russell:

prime wayne rapped circles around all of these "new generation" rappers

prime wayne didn't even pen his hottest chit.

and a lot of these newer rappers would slay wayne on the mic. maybe not the newer guys that get burn on here. but that's on yall.

speak for yourself breh.

theres plenty of dudes being shut out of the industry with way more star-power than wack ass drake. maybe not the crossover pop star-power, but we don't need that in the game anyway.
