Compared to this new mainstream generation Lil Wayne is Rakim. That nikka can really RAP when he get busy. You can't even get these kids today to bust a dope written freestyle on a radio show without sounding stupid. Yea he mumbled too but at least he mumbled some dope shyt. These new nikkas sound like they walk around with special helmets on.
Wayne was never a mumble rapper, unless you count this as mumble rap

yeah but his former labelmate B.G. dropped 4 albums within 3 years that are better than Waynes' best album
you just made a remark that most wouldnt agree with, its hard to argue about subjectve things.

If he had anything better than the first 2 carters then the people would acknowledge that.

turk was more popular than wayne on the streets.

dudes on here don't even realize like most of the south ran with turk's flow in the early '00s.

history gets re-written tho.......which is exactly what wayne is low-key trying to do with this interview. dude even put his name ahead of juvenile on the slick in this video.

wayne was moreso the special attraction for the females & children.

that's a good role to play and all but that's nothing to hang your hat on. he was dead last in that group with the niccas.

are you serious with this post? wayne was disrespected from day one.

for a rapper in his mid-30s, wayne fans are so young & un-cultured.

The appeal was that he was young to a young nikka like me at the time.

But the fact is he simply had more wit,and was more charismatic than the rest of the hotboys....a flow that was more built for crossover pop appeal.

Turk wasnt as good despite nikkas tryna rewrite history, and juve and Bg was just raw as shyt:banderas:

BG was and still is the greatest Hotboy to me though, but im talking commercially it was clear Wayne was the one thqt had the most superstar potential.

Just like wit migos, quavo aint the most skilled but he is the most built to crossover and be a commercial star....my prediction became true with wayne so u really cant have a good response to this other than hate Wacky:sas1:

keywords killing your own argument.

especially when he was only 1 & 2 years younger than other members of the group.

street f*cked wit turk more. I never argued that wayne wasnt bigger with the crowd that was a half-step away from buying a bow wow record.:mjlol:

of course wayne had the most superstar potential in the long-run, in the sense that he appeals to everyone. that doesn't make him better than anybody. especially back then, he wasn't better than anybody in the group. younger rap fans just single out turk in hindsight because he didn't have much of a solo run. but real-time niccas know wassup.

and your wayne prediction wouldn't have become true if baby wasn't hell-bent on making wayne a star. pushing his albums harder than he did for BG and even juvenile when juvi was read hot, selling 4-5 million..........and then later, baby paying all sorts of ghostwriters & such. lol. is this what youre really hanging your hat on? THAT NOSTALGIA gets the best of em.

Ok well i didnt say he was better either, and its a reason Turk didnt hage much of a solo run,and its cuz real time nikkas was knowing:sas1:

And dont disrespect me like that,i never came close to buyin a Bowwow record:pachaha:....how can you even compare the two as a matter of fact.... he wasnt as gutter as Juve,BG but make no mistake he was spittin that raw shyt:wow:

He was much closer to bg and juve than he was bowwow:comeon:...he was goin hard for the young street nikkas, and i know BG was young but he rap with the soul of a old nikka and Turk like i said was good, but he was Turk:manny:

cmon breh. youre smarter than this.

when he dropped his cash money album, they barely promoted it, and he STILL was on pace to outsell the wayne album that they were promoting all year. then when they saw that, they stopped promoting turk's chit altogether.

not saying that his album was anything special. he didn't even get to drop until the era was practically over. part of that is his fault for going to jail so much, and of course, he ended up going away for an entire decade. meanwhile, wayne was getting his breakthrough album penned for him.

Lil Wayne is a verified star, this is evident by the fact that he retains a high level of relevance without being in the midsts of an album cycle/marketing campaign . . an artist's success is based on how well they maintain that relevance and influence that they're getting while you're sinking the promo budget into them (during the album cycle). If there's a high drop off then you know are putting money in a sinking ship. If you inflate them to star status and they retain a high percentage of that then you are looking at someone with star power. The success of an artist's brand is all about influence, once you have influence your brand is monetizable and your brand's value is based on your power of influence. So Pepsi can put you on a billboard and you're recognizable and notable, a lot of these new guys aren't ready for commercials yet and that is what Wayne is saying
