Unfortunately talking about sexual assault/rape in the black community is never taken seriously and/or the victim is constantly met with shaming, excuses for why it happened, and heavily downplaying the situation because of said victim's character.

A segment of Black men never want to talk about it or be serious, maybe the topic is too heavy-handed for them to handle emotionally (which is understandable), or just don't care enough to be sympathetic and understanding. I believe a lot do care but some get caught up in focusing on the characteristics/personalities of the individual at hand and using that as the barometer for how much sympathy should be given toward that person, I see some of that happening throughout this thread.

Sexyy Red (the entertainer/artist) may not be a saint or a moral symbol but that doesn't mean she isn't deserving of being heard and cared for emotionally, sometimes we have to learn how to separate the entertainer from the person/human and not judge or discredit their feelings and pain because of how we feel about their musical image.

For example, separate the artistic persona of Sexyy Red from the human being/person; Janae Nierah Wherry (which is her real name), whatever kind of feelings or disdain you have for the artist Sexyy Red doesn't mean the person, Janae Nierah Wherry isn't deserving of empathy and compassion for what happened to her earlier in her life.

Man if they ever put together a PSA condoning rape against Black women, and they included a lot of today’s hyper sexual rapping chicks that been through it speaking on it..

I bet the number of them in that video would be glaring :francis:

Women, just make things not fun. I don’t know why people try to act like they are just one of the homies to chop it up with but this is a common example of how much of a downer they are to be around outside of the context of cheek clapping.

The way I laughed at the absurdity of the first sentence in relation to the topic at hand is not normal. How'd your brain come to that conclusion then tell you to type it out breh I'm honestly intrigued?

I'm a keep it real if I'm talking to a lady and I found out she was raped especially as a child

:francis: And I say that as someone who dated a chic who's been through that. Never making that mistake again

but dmx was the man though right :jbhmm:
DMX was a terribly flawed individually who once cried on reality tv due to experiences He endured as a child. Used hard drugs to cope and eventually died as a result of that. No one thinks DMX is the "man" no matter how much we liked Him.

Alot of times these threads get made it turns into a softcore broad stroke general Black man hatin thing on here and I as a Black man who's not a rapist don't really appreciate it.

:unimpressed:Man stop there’s plenty of mature people in our community. Who can talk about serious subjects like sexual assault/rape. Y’all really need to stop with these generalizations. Because a rapper nervously chuckle on a podcast.

I think they were looking for a "wow, that's crazy" type of story not a "wow, I'm sorry" type of story. She didn't understand the assignment. They were just taken a back because it is wasnt what they were looking for.

They chuckle was not out of dismissing the issue, it was a caught off guard nervous tick. When you go through tonal whiplash, it can affect you like that. They were thinking in terms of party craziness, hangover wildness, and she casually dropped being r*ped and they were caught off guard.

And they tried to move past it because they’re obviously not emotionally equipped to have a discussion with her, on a platform like this.

1. Point went over your head, that the poster was trying to dictate what content someone should make just because they are a victim of something in their lifetime.
2. And speak for yourself rather than try to join a ab convo and cape for that other nikka. I specifically looked up him stanning of dmx and he certainly did call him the man as a rapper, without considering the fact he also was raped and still condoning his content

Y’all love to try to hop in conversations without following the context of the conversation. Don’t at me no more unless you are following the conversation because I don’t appreciate you trying to play victim of the shyt I be posting

Yea they were looking for a degenerate story for their fans to eat up, and got one that was too uncomfortable. Maybe they should stop trying to sell trauma and disfunction and they won't come across situations like this.

Kinda think she should’ve told her story, would’ve been monumental in saving these girls minds .

I’m pretty sure she has spoke about it before in a interview without it bein a “ewwwy” moment to the interviewers. Or maybe that was another female rapper I’m thinking of :francis:

But at this rate I’m sure she will be able to articulate the situation on a bigger and better platform, shorty going all the way up it seems :whew:

I said that because when guys hang out just with their male friends, it's different than when they're with both guys and girls. The topics they talk about and how they talk about them change. If a guy asks another guy about his worst experience, especially if they're not close, and the answer is really personal, it can feel awkward and ruin the mood. To sum up:

1. Guys talk differently around women.
2. If a guy did what Ms. Red did with a group of guys, he'd be seen as strange.
3. Men can't be totally themselves around women, so inviting them to hang out casually like "bros" usually isn't enjoyable.
