That is a bad thing?
In some cases yes. There are some leadership positions that would be best fit for a woman. I'm speaking from a local government view but I think it can apply at any level if you wanted it to.

:salute: to this white woman for being honest!!!

But what will she do about it that will actually make a difference?

black women get portrayed worse in the media huh :ld:
I thought being strong and independent was a good thing. When did it become bad :ld:

It became bad when the media started using it against them and black women no longer were given the opportunity to throw us under the bus like we've seen in those black marriage news specials.

:dahell: "black guys rock"?

:why: They'll all be labeled as sell outs or c00ns and achievements will be ignored based on who they choose to date and the amount of hate they receive from white males. Cause you know if you ain't making cacs mad, you ain't living.

So we'll need a special called "real nikkas rock". :troll:

Nice article. I wish more people had this basic understanding of images in American society that the writer pointed out. I think these types of things are the foundation of the discussion that Americans need to have about race in this country if we are going to truly get past it but the majority of white people can't even admit to the very thing she just wrote about. I'm sure most of you have heard the statement "Why do we have a black history month" or complaints of that nature but they don't seem to understand that EVERYTHING is about them on a regular basis as if they are the only ones living in this country.

Folks. Let me tell you something. You might want to sit down, because this could be a shocker for you. Here it is. Are you ready?

The Hunger Games is not real. (Gasp.)

Been sayin this.

There's a lot of mental midgets over there. They just have to white wash everything.

Mention Idris Elba as James Bond or Octavia Spencer reprising the Murder She Wrote role and they flip out. "oh, so I guess Dane Cook can play Shaft? :skip:". But they don't say anything about Johnny Depp playing a Native American, or Keanu Reeves as a samurai.

Remember the uproar when Jaime Foxx was suggested to play Electro in the upcoming Spider Man movie?

Or when Idris Elba was cast as Heimdall in the Thor movies?

Or when someone cast Donald Glover as Spider-Man on some fantasy casting forum?

Or when the first Hunger Games movie came out and some white folks were losing their shyt over the fact that three characters- mainly the "reminds the protagonist of their younger sibling" Rue that everyone loved- even though the book clearly stated that two of the three characters has "very dark skin and curly hair?"

Is your suspension of disbelief so one sided to think that there can be no non-whites (or worse: whites inserted in non-white films, like Keanu Reeves in The Last Samurai(?)) in movies?

Whenever they see a non-white person in a movie that isn't a stereotype, are they like

":dwillhuh: There's a black person in this movie? and they're NOT doing (insert stereotype here)? ... I didn't know they could do that in movies.:lupe:"

*Not sure if I'm using that Lupe smiley right lol*

IT'S A DAMN MOVIE.
IF IT'S A GOOD MOVIE, A PERSON THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE YOU SHOULDN'T AFFECT YOU THAT MUCH.

Unless you're a CAC.

Do you live in Baltimore County? Then I don't really see the need to go naming my county councilman or any other local government positions that apply to my area. lol
What are you trying to get at?
