Remember the uproar when Jaime Foxx was suggested to play Electro in the upcoming Spider Man movie?
Or when Idris Elba was cast as Heimdall in the Thor movies?
Or when someone cast Donald Glover as Spider-Man on some fantasy casting forum?
Or when the first Hunger Games movie came out and some white folks were losing their shyt over the fact that three characters- mainly the "reminds the protagonist of their younger sibling" Rue that everyone loved- even though the book clearly stated that two of the three characters has "very dark skin and curly hair?"
Is your suspension of disbelief so one sided to think that there can be no non-whites (or worse: whites inserted in non-white films, like Keanu Reeves in The Last Samurai(?)) in movies?
Whenever they see a non-white person in a movie that isn't a stereotype, are they like
"

There's a black person in this movie? and they're NOT doing (insert stereotype here)? ... I didn't know they could do that in movies.

"
*Not sure if I'm using that Lupe smiley right lol*
IT'S A DAMN MOVIE.
IF IT'S A GOOD MOVIE, A PERSON THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE YOU SHOULDN'T AFFECT YOU THAT MUCH.
Unless you're a CAC.
