Generally speaking, I think that Lions have to wait for migrations to even get their shot at hunting. On top of that they have competitors like Cheetahs, Crocodiles, Leopards, Hyenas, Wild dogs, etc. So Lions have a lot more competition for prey than Tigers, so prey is usually healthier and a lot more skittish.

I think that Tigers are usually ambush hunters and they usually live in the same territory with their prey.

That's cause dogs can also run for miles without stoping at a consistent ass pace so they literally wait while running for prey to tire out, cats are ambushes so if they can't get on prey within like a minute they'll usually lose
