I'd give a silverback a good chance against a cougar, a leopard, and perhaps even a jaguar, but not a full grown lion, male or female. Humans and apes are very vulnerable to clawing, because their skin is not mobile like in most other mammals but rigidly attached to their inner musculature. A man or an ape would need a very big size/strength advantage to win in a fight against any feline species.

If leopards are known to prey on gorillas, I think its a given that a lion would take a gorilla.

Apart from humans, gorillas don't really have enemies. The only predator to prey on gorillas is the leopard. Walter Baumgärtel found the remains of several gorillas after they had been killed by leopards in the Virunga Volcanoes. Another case has been confirmed in Gabon, where a sick young gorilla was killed by a leopard.
