I don't agree. The only thing Kobe really has trouble on defense is fighting through picks. He was never good doing that probably because he didn't want to waste the energy. Later ie 2010+ on he stopped caring about closing out on 3 shooters which would also get him trouble.

But defenders blowing by him on the perimeter in his prime? Nah.

:heh:

In his prime, elite players like Lebron, TP, and Wade blew past him. BUt even secondary and tertiary players like Devin Harris, Larry Hughes, and Melo got in his ass.

:stopitslime:

LeBron and Wade could never blow past Kobe without getting screens at the top of the key. He's locked up both of them before. Dude was giving Wade fits last year in Staples then busted his ass in the post on the other end of the court.

Those other players may have had one good outing but on a regular basis, no one was just lighting Kobe up every game. Pure :duck:.

Was he guarding all of them for the whole game? Conversely, I can post up games were he's locked up all of them. Are good to great players going to locked down everytime? No.

Thinking so is ignorant but you are trolling. :youngsabo:

IT's what i've seen. Kobe was always better at defending pure jump shooters, eve though Allan Houston lit his ass up too. Kobe has never been good at preventing slashing players. It's why Paul Pierce cooked his ass so many times.

I know you kobestans have selective vision when it comes to this stuff, but I am more than willing to provide more detail upon request.

Also, CP3 was first team all -nba defense this year. :ohhh:

I seriously, seriously doubt Kobe has guarded Paul Pierce over 30% of the time in the time their team played each other.

Because it never ends well for him.

Take a serious look at the history of his defense. As soon as the rule changes were put in place regarding perimeter players, and actually enforced, Kobe didn't look so good on defense.

Kobe's style of defense works against Jump shooters, and in the late 90's early 2000's that was all the elite perimeter players were ... jump shooters. As soon as he had to guard slasher, he was broken down because he played too close. You'll still see this happen today, but it happened in his "prime" years too. It's how a relative bum like Larry Hughes got 40 on him.. because hughes kept driving.
