baseball - in field fly rule![]()
CAME IN TO SAY THIS. An out should only be a catch, strikeout, tag out, or force out. Forget that other ish.
Why Americans love baseball (one of the slowest games ever) but can't really get into hockey or soccer. Is it cuz they can't score? (well runs can be rare in baseball) is it cuz they don't have the patience? (well spending 3+ hours watching eventual movements is very patient)
not saying americans don't like soccer or hockey, but for those that dont and like baseball
I'll field this (don't aske me how).
I can't get into soccer/hockey like I do baseball because it's so much action FOR NOTHING.
All that slide tackling, running/skating all over the place, fighting - for nothing.
It seems like everything about those two sports matters except scoring.
If there's 10 minutes left in a soccer/hockey game, and your team is up 1-0, you can turn the chit off, because
chances are the other team wont score in 10 minutes, because the scoring is so few and far between -
despite getting yourself all hyphy because there's so much movement. lol
Now I will admit the closest thing to this in baseball is what I hate most - runners left on base.
But baseball is a strategic game, so when there is no "action" - as a fan it is still interesting, because
(1) you try to figure out what each team will do/is doing, or (2) you recognize there is no "action" because
one or both of the teams are playing so well, they aren't allowing "action" from the other team.
I mean, you can watch a baseball game and neither team score in 8 innings...then the away team scores a run in
the Top 9th and the home team HAS TO DO SOMETHING now. The first swing at the first pitch can change the game.
And walk-offs happen with enough frequency that it's not crazy to see it...i'm rambling, but basically - fucc soccer.
