- I think most modern tv and movies have predictable cheesy stories, and think most video games are even worse

Come on Arcadium brethren. We all have them so let's list them.

  • You can't convince me to try an MMO. I know they're fun but I can't see myself investing $10+ a month to play something especially with how ADHD I am when it comes to what I'm playing.
  • Kamiya can do no wrong. By extension, Platinum Games is practically infallible. I mean look at this dude's resume as Director: Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Okami, Wonderful 101. He's a hitmaker.
  • I rarely ever play F2P games. Even ones I'm interested in. I think I have this subconcious notion that the game will be barebones until I sink a ton of time or spend money. I've barely even played TF2 since it went F2P and I think that's a great game.
  • Stories are almost never good in games. Atmosphere in video games can be amazing. So much so that I don't long for a good story the way I might in a book or even a movie. But I struggle to think of "good" stories in video games that match up to classic (and modern-classic) novels.
  • Valve is amazing. At least as long as they're not publicly traded. I used to be very skeptical of them and I feel they've proven me wrong at every turn so now I have faith in them. They're not perfect but they realize that, deliver alphas/betas on features and use that to gather and implement feedback. So when SteamOS releases, I realize it's not going to be perfect but I have faith that Valve will make it into something more and more worthwhile over time.

I strongly agree with the first two. Disagree with the 4th and whatevs about the last one.:obama:

  • Fighting games are the most skillfully displayed/skill requirement needed games of ALL genres. And they're in my top 3 genres.
  • Not too crazy about FPSes, even among the few that I like. I feel that the POV in itself is very disorienting (yeah, I imagine it's ironic) and after all these years, they've still yet to make them truly feel like truly looking from the player's eyes as your own (I suppose this is where something like Occulus Rift could come in handy/is needed).
  • I think stories and storytelling in gaming is dope, but it needs to take an even more significant role in gaming in general and across ALL genres, even the genres that some folks feel it isn't even needed in (like fighters or platformers) and needs to not take such a backseat to gameplay (why or why can't we just have a perfect merge of both?!)
  • Graphics/aesthetics/art-style are actually just a mere sliver of a percent less important than gameplay (I'm talking like 49/51%), to the point where it's almost a moot argument to shyt on graphic whores if the games your pumping up look like shyt or uninspired. That said...
  • I'm not a huge fan of retro-looking games. There are some that I like and really like dearly, but definitely not all of them and I sure as hell don't prefer that aesthetic style.
  • Am an 80's baby and a hardcore gamer at heart to the core and wish Ninty success still, but I'm NOT a mario enthusiast like most gamers just proclaim they have to be off GP.
  • JRPGs >>> WRPGs
  • Multiplayer brawlers are in dire need of a comeback. I miss them dearly.
  • I'm biased against most traditional sports games, as I feel the constraints of being ultra realistic limits the level of creativity that can be done with them and as such, I VERY rarely ever buy them.
  • Just about all games (98% or so of them) require some buttons to be pressed or i.e. "mashed", so it's a moot point to mention that.

Killzone 2 is a classic
Virtua Fighter is the best fighting game series period
Metal Gear Rising's gameplay makes me think that Kojima+Platinum Games should make some games about Grey Fox
Arcade space shooting games are the best "just pick up and play" games there are (Can I get a new Gradius game Konami?)
Ape Escape on Playstation is one of the most influential/innovative games ever created

No zombie game will ever surpass Left 4 Dead 1/2 in my eyes
Skate is the best skateboarding game series
Chrono Trigger is the only game immune to any form of slander. Undeniable GOAT to me.
FF6 is the best FF and no other FF game can ever surpass it, or come close.
Hideo Kojima is a gawd. MGS3 is teflon.
I tend to feel like people that dislike fighters just suck at them or don't enjoy competitive 1 on 1 gaming.
MMORPG's are boring and slow-paced from the start for me to invest time and money in. I prefer Diablo/Borderlands dungeon crawling co-op type RPG's to them.
MOBA's are cool to watch but I could never see myself playing them
Super Mario RPG and Megaman Legends are forever Top 5.

an interesting thing about sports games is how important licensing is to people that play them

Word.

  • Most (not all) PC gamers come off like such pompous, annoying snobs and makes me feel like I wouldn't want to game with them.
