Yep. RZA wanted that feel to the album. That Marley Marl basement studio sound but with more instrumentation and the kung-fu infusion.

36 Chambers came out in 93, but the album is really about 85-89. You got 9 dudes that had entire life stories to tell. The sound reflects that.
as a semi-old head, i dont see this. The wu came out of the gate unapologetically 90's
It was apart of the appeal in the first place

Protect Ya Neck remains the GOAT song, period.

Love this album to death, but it's amazing how much RZA's production advanced (deliberately and also as a matter of circumstance) by the time he reached the first wave of Wu solos and culminating in the production masterpiece that is Wu-Tang Forever.

Some other albums totally unrelated to Wu-tang and this thread but I'm insecure and gotta fight the Great East Coast Conspiracy at every turn no matter how irrelevant are 1993's doggystyle. And domino, a guy nobody mentions next to Snoop and Wu-tang. Albums full of non-East Coast hits

It's worth being:flabbynsick: now to have had that shyt released when I was in HS.

these kids don't know what it's like... copping a prime wu cassette on release date... getting blunted and hearing Daytona 500 or Verbal Intercourse for the first time.

I still remember where I was listening to OB4CL for the first time.

Btw on a side note I just realised that Raekwon had the most verses on both 36 Chambers and Wu Forever. Damn the Chef cooking....
