And this lacked the Special Guest star Ghostface Killah!!!
It needed more GFK.
The RZA should have been more involved ie Producer and coordinator but Rae was on his fukk everybody let me do me phase right about then!
Didn't they have issues w/ him at that time?

100%

see that's thing, i wish it would've pretty much followed the first
let it be all Rae and Ghost with the rest of the remaining members of the Wu
if Nas could've featured, it would've been great of course
and then maybe like a Kool G Rap feature and then leave it at that.
that too! (RZA's involvement at least as the executive producer since Rae wasn't really feeling some of his beats during that whole time)

Rae was on hiphop game and many online outlets asking for Nas and others to join him for this project..they all were busy or doing other stuff..plus back then Egos were still flying high unlike now where you see everybody from the hip hop community collaborating unlike if it was 10 to 30 years ago!

Rae and RZA stopped seeing eye to eye plus RZA was travelling alot, getting into movies and venturing out basically growing!

The RZA wanted to produce a mature version of Cuban link 2..he wanted a proper orchestra etc but Rae shut it down!

Ghostface label was problematic only allowed him on 3 tracks..

Yes and The RZA was away from the wu tang during this period. He was building his own network in films and Hollywood.

yup. i remember that vividly, that's true.

cause i remember how much Rae hated 8 diagrams and how he went in on RZA's production for that album, lol

he was very vocal during that time

What? Ghost is on 7 tracks which is like 1/3rd of the album. RZA and Rae did the foundation but Rae wanted to go his own way with it but the core of the album they coordinated together, including the Dilla cuts, Justice's cut, the RZA & True cuts, etc... came from that collaboration. Thug World/Unpredictable (Wu), You Can't Stop Me Now (RZA), Rockstars & Smoking Barrels & State of Grace are all from those sessions too.

The main thing issue was 8 Diagrams coming in the middle of this process and that rift made all parties want to step back a minute before working together again.

i wish Rae would've just gotten RZA's understudy True Master to have produce the majority of the album w/ the few RZA produced tracks we got eye to eye at the time.
really?!

the one song i do really like is The Fat Lady Sings.
You know Fat Lady's True Master, right? It was misprinted on the initial release but I think it's been corrected to showing as a True beat since.

honeslty, i didn't remember

i had a physical copy of the album for a few years after it dropped, then when i moved, i lost it on a uhaul and storage unit so i haven't looked at the cd booklet linear notes in years since.

but that makes sense

Question. Do y'all think him trying to follow up w/ a sequel was a good or bad thing? And would it have gone across better if he had just named it something else

i think it was a good thing

it helped bring Rae back and helped breath new life into his career honestly

after that, everybody was talking about rae and the Cuban Linx legacy again

Rae's sequel was one of those ones, out of all of hip hop sequels that was needed for him to remind people who he is and to bring him back into the fold of the now among his peers and just be a relic of yesterday
