Stop being a bytch. These are grown men that were famous/successful in a different era.

No one owes you the interaction you want. Best to stop stepping to real nikkas and expecting them to play online games

Them brothers gave us what they gave us and we appreciate their contributions to the culture. They don’t owe us anything more.

Stop being a faq.

Less to do with likability and more to do with the fact they didn't appease to mainstream standards. They came up during the worst time too. Nothing they were doing would've tracked well because of the state the rap game was in during the early-to-mid 00s. They were 10-15 years too late (or too early, depending on how you look at it).
Agreed and I'd say too early instead of too late

The meta-90s thing really took off with Pro Era/ASAP/Dreamville, and was tied to the fashion and visuals for greater branding that new media enabled

If LB weren't burned out and carrying all kinds of baggage they could be having a Griselda in 2018 type run with old heads and inquisitive young listeners

9th was having an "Alchemist run" before that was even a thing, in the mid 00s

The timing is really unfortunate, but they also selfishly got to be our "hidden gem"

The music is dope thats all that matters.

I follow Pooh and he can come off a little prickly at times but hey thats what happens when interacting with REAL human beings, sometimes they can be gracious, sometimes they can be a$$holes.

Phonte doesn’t come off as that all bad in his interviews in my opinion.
It’s not all that matters in the context of success. Wale is a prime example. Literally has hits of every type of song but him being somewhat of a diva held him back

We can even look at a guy like Drake. Although the quality & music went down he still was that guy. Once he started moving different & became unlikeable to a certain demo is when curtain got pulled

Has nothing to do with their personality. They were pushed and presented as the second coming of Tribe, De La and all the Native Tongue crew. They were not that. Not even close. But they had some cool shyt. I think 9th wonder using 1 snare for multiple albums was a travesty as well:snoop:

I don't think it had anything to do with that. Their introduction to rap audiences came at a time when independent artists were clowned for being broke scolds who were too righteous. In many ways Kanye's image at the time was a conscious rapper who liked hoes and money, which changed the game. But....Little Brother liked hoes too lol. They wanted money. They were not rapping about going back to Africa or knowledge of self.

Did they hate on other rappers and shyt on the south? Sure but damn near every rapper this forum liked in 2003-2005 was doing the same shyt. At the end of the day they were from NC so they didn't get love from the east coast. Despite getting some major co-signs from the east coast (Questlove if you count him, Guru, Jay, etc). And they never made tracks for hoes or clubs so...yea.

Little Brother put out that album back in a time where everyone wanted to be a trap nikka(Jeezy and T.I and to a extent Gucci) or wanted to be making songs for ringtone money(D4L, Mike Jones, Hurricane Chris, etc)…

Let em live. It’s not their fault that they’re a bunch of Okayplayer Nerds.

At least they tried to save Hip Hop.

Little Brothers did no different than The Roots did with “What They Do”.

I think The Roots are all a$$holes including Baloo the Drummer

Pooh is wack and they're fat nikkas. The music was pretty good at its best and uninspired for too many tracks. 9th's production got repetitive fast. They put out an album with a provocative title then failed to have the courage to execute the theme. They're a kinda good group that has one gifted, versatile artists in the duo, who makes for a great feature and an enjoyable one-off here and there. I say that as an early fan, and a forever fan of Phonte. Nobody ever cared about these guy enough to find them unlikeable - if anything the word was 9th was the a$$hole.

this is a good take

Id like to add to the threadstarter say what you want about Pooh but Phonte most def IS like that, his catalogue is incredible both with LB with forigen exchange and solo, he has reason

but the threadstarters not toally off. 9th too, I would say they are all a bit ornery spec pooh n 9th

9th is the one here who is unlikeable. Dude got caught up in his initial hype and paralyed that into the teaching gig and being on the Grammy board, but he hasn't made a good beat in a decade.

Phonte seems cool, maybe frustrated in that he should be more famous and richer than he is, but seems to have mellowed out now.

Pooh is lucky we know his name.
