Good post OP. What The great little richard said still resonates today on entertainment for black artist.
He was bi and they still couldn't handle him.

we need to celebrate these black pioneers. Most kids don’t know who created this music. Even grown folks think that rock is white people’s music.

I just came across this interview where he told dikk Clark and America that the Rolling Stones was up next.
He dictated the sound of Rock, along with Chuck Berry, and stamped who was hot or not in Rock's early years, then got turned into damn near a novelty act..
As a youngster pops use to always kick the facts to me that chuck, richard and ike created rock.
