Iman avid baseball fan..have had seasons where ive watched 120-140 games of my teams games since 2004...however there are things i still don't understand

why does the pitcher refuse to show any emotion as he walks off the mound?
why does colby rasmus throw up gangsigns after every flyout he catches?

I can help.

1. Pitchers have no feelings. They are trained to be that way from an early age. John Rocker was not - and you see how that ended up.

2. Gangs are cool.

Infield Fly Rule :upsetfavre:
Designated Hitter :dwillhuh:
Why don't they make the CL with a clutch? :wtf:

- The infield fly rule is so the defense can't drop pop-ups intentionally to turn double or triple plays.

- The DH was created to create more offense in the AL. The NL was the original baseball league, and the AL wanted more offense to be entertaining to compete.

- It doesn't matter, Jada still can't drive it.

I never get that 6 4 3 double play ish or we score it a 9 2 out

Why are there so many unwritten rules, stealing a base when your up no no, bunting if it's a perfect game or no hitter, faking that you threw the ball back but keeping It in your glove, stealing signs, showing up after a home run, sliding into first base etc.

Balk?

Sac flies in foul territory. Why is the runner allowed to advance?

Balks protect the runner from the pitcher tricking them, basically. But there are a ton of things that qualify for a balk. If you accidentally drop the ball while on the rubber ... that's a balk. :russ:

the players are numbered 1-9 on the field

so it's a record of who touched the ball in a given out

so a 6-4-3 double play means the SS fielded it, threw it to the 2B who recorded the first out, who then threw it to 1st for the 2nd out.

Score keepers assign numbers to positions.. 1 is pitcher 2 catcher 3 first base 4 2nd 5 3rd 6 short stop.

So a 6 4 3 is the short stop throwing to 2nd then 2nd to first
