Iman avid baseball fan..have had seasons where ive watched 120-140 games of my teams games since 2004...however there are things i still don't understand

why does the pitcher refuse to show any emotion as he walks off the mound?
why does colby rasmus throw up gangsigns after every flyout he catches?

Pitchers show emotion all the time when they get a big out....

bunting about 95% of the time. I obviously don't know the math, but almost every time a bunt is called for, i think it's an awful decision

Frank Robinson didn this whenever somebody got on 1sst basde 100% of the time. It was:no:

this is specific..

but what was larussa's reasoning behind hitting the pitcher 8th?

Because he had the best hitter in the game, in Pujols. He did it with Big Mac too. You bat them in the 3 spot, so that makes sure he gets a plate appearance in the first inning ... then it also makes sure there are at least 3 hitters in front of him. After that first go-around, it's like having him bat cleanup.

I still don't understand how it's a strike, when a batter doesn't move it's bat and just watches the ball cross the plate :dwillhuh:

Balk?

Sac flies in foul territory. Why is the runner allowed to advance?

ive never ever seen a sac fly in foul territory my comrade

I have... What it comes down to is once the ball is touched the other runners can advance. Thats why if you notice when there'e a runner on third those outfielders usually only catch it if its 2 outs or they can do it standing up. If its less than 2 outs or they thing they gotta dive, they letting it drop

Its like the dark side.. emotions affect the way they perform. It leads to lack of concentration and focus, which leads to balls and walks and allowing 10 runs in an inning

sounds like some of yall need to go watch your little nephew play a couple of seasons. Really helps explain some of the odd rules. There's a lot of decorum as you get older, but at younger ages, coaches will try all kinds of fukkery.

I played T-ball and Little League but stopped after a two year career in Little Leagues. Couldn't handle the pressure.

Just kidding. The things I don't understand are how to pitch the various pitches (slider, knuckleball, curve ball, change up), where you place your fingers and all the mechanics. All I know is the split finger fastball, because basically, that's how you hold the ball when throwing the ball around.

this & all of these other "unwritten rules" really annoy the fukk outta me.
the 'unwritten rules' of baseball are utter joke to me.

the one that kills me is the one where after a certain lead its not 'kosher' to steal bases :mindblown:

:dahell:
If the ball goes over the plate and is in between your knees and chest you have to hit it, or it's a strike regardless if you swing and miss or just watch it

all this bullshyt tradition & all....meanwhile, tons of legends of the game are "cheaters" & liars.

shyt ain't sacred anymore, and should never have been. it's like you kinda want all of these old fukks in power who are keeping that garbage alive to just die already to begin the new era of baseball. (pun intended :scheme:)

Why exactly does the NL not want a DH position?

Im talking about as far as media and public perception is concern. It matters because media and public perception is what caused basketball to have stricter dress codes and punishments when dealing with refs
Umps also don't tolerate 1/10th of the shyt refs. Can't argue balls and strikes. You get automatically thrown out. Basketball players, especially superstars get thrown a lot more rope when it comes to being able to bytch and moan.

the "unwritten rules" and "decorum" aspects of the game vary depending on where you are. You know how British people are viewed as prim and proper and regal and stiff (no homo) and then you have the image of the ugly Americans acting a fool? Well in baseball, Americans tend to view themselves as the regal, proper, perfect baseball players and then you get the Latin American ball players coming in all swagged out and turnt up. Same thing. There's no right or wrong way to conduct yourself emotionally. America just wants to believe there's a code to everything.

If people were paying attention to the WBC, that Dominican team was one of the most swagged out teams ever assembled in any sport. They gave zero fukks to the opponent.
