I don't know how else to say this besides that you "get" certain things other folks don't. I'll skip the tin foil 'woke' bullshyt but there are some things you definitely see that others don't. Maybe that's where the humor piece comes in. We have to laugh to keep from crying.

Say I'm watching any given episode or stand up of Dave Chappelle. It might be funny to non-black audiences, but we "get" it. Those aren't foreign or unrelatable jokes or skits. That shyt happens and comedy is some weird, sick healing process that helps out. Likewise for hip-hop. Likewise for any given black art form.

They say Bob Marley wrote music on different levels with different audiences in mind. Average Joe would think that's a pretty good song. Black and Jamaican audiences would understand those same lyrics at a deeper level. But Rasta or Kingston folks would understand EXACTLY what he meant. I hate the cliche but there are levels to this shyt.

To me there's nothing like understanding the current and historical position of the black body, mind, and soul in America. There's nothing quite like being able to hold the mirror up to the Greatest Country In The History Of The World TM and, just by living, serve as the evidence of the hypocrisies and double standards that go along with it. Certainly a curse and I'd like to think of it as a gift as well.

Being blessed with the Mandingo genes

Being born with the "charisma" about me and having my playa game on Tariq nasheed level

Being blessed in a household full of coco butter/oil to make my skin remain young and healthy

But seriously mainly looking at the history of the African storyline
The great kingdoms of kemet Ethiopia
Also mansa musa and sonni ali and numerous other great warriors
Us having the first civilization 200,000 years ago in Southern Africa
Knowing about the moors,Christianity/Hebrews
Knowing that we invented martial arts/Nubian wrestling and even the chakra system and energy manipulation
All the philosophies/religion that the Europeans/Asians say they invented had a African origin
Just so many things that should make every black person proud about our true history and heritage
Plus knowing that in a few hundred years from now this will be a black planet

Dealing with black elderly people is one of the GOAT feelings. If you haven't got to do this yet in your life, I suggest finding a way to volunteer or spend time with elderly black people or a couple.

In another 15 years or so there is going to be a newer generation of black elderly people that are nothing like the current one.
