If you've seen how tracking is done you know escaping on horse would make it extra easy to find him. It's hard enough getting away on foot when they have technology that can track you by heat, dogs by smell, etc. Catching a big man on a horse, who's probably sweating would not be difficult. I don't believe that happened.
