Favorite project along side GKMC of the Modern Era. I never get tired of it. Rocky needs to drop an album with ALL Clams production

When I first got into Live.Love.ASAP, I thought this too. But really, the brilliance of the album is that almost every producer pulls his/her own weight. One style of sound, no matter how brilliant, is likely to get stale. Sure, Clams was the undisputed hero of the tape. But Beautiful Lou (especially for Trilla - one of the obvious highlights) and Ty Beats killed it too. All time classic albums usually have 3-5 producers for variety.

Rocky is not sharp enough lyrically to rap an entire album over Clams like a GZA did over RZA.

@SirBiatch been telling yall nikkas

:salute:

Truth comes out

Too bad rocky went downhill after this blassic

It was bound to happen. Tape flew over the heads of most heads, lettuce be reality. He had to water his shyt down to appeal to most listeners. Most of these so-called hip hop fans are quick to overrate mediocrity but slow to acknowledge brilliance.

:what:How does something self described by you as "great" then become corny and you not understand the love it gets?

:jbhmm:

:patrice:

I mean the stretch from like track 2 through to track 6 or 7 is dope. But the rest of the tape with all those talentless weirdos is just a waste of nice beats.

And Demons or whatever it's called is corny enough to taint the whole mixtape.

Album definitely was hard when it came out. The production on it was a breathe of fresh air at the time. ASAP should do more and more work with Clams

It isn't good enough to make a grown man idolize ASAp though, which is what Sirbytch pathetic ass does.

Live.Love.ASAP is in my top 5 rap albums ever. #4 or #5 depending on the day.

I'm curious: what tracks did y'all like instantly and what did you have to warm up to?

Straight up, I didn't like the "Palace", "Demons" and "Wassup" when I first heard them. shyt was just too weird for me. I loved "Bass" for whatever reason. It's not until I heard "Leaf" and Rocky's delivery on it that I started understanding what Clams was really doing. This is why I marvel at Live.Love.ASAP. It made me reassess how I listen to hip hop, which is beautiful. It had that Madvillainy effect on me. Trying to make sense of beats there were slippery and weird, and when you finally understand, you're like: THIS shyt IS CRAZY!

There's only five tracks I never play:
1. Get Lit (it's not terrible, just meh. It hits at the perfect spot in the tape, tho. so sometimes, I let it play)
2. Houston Old Head (this song is just boring. Doesn't even belong on the tape imo. always skip)
3. Roll One Up (terrible. 100% skip)
4. Acid Drip (boring song. no energy. also 100% skip)
5. Out of this world (probably the best of the 'never play' bunch. Melody is cool but I don't like the drums)

also, what the fukk happened to Lyle LeDuff? How do you make an AMAZING beat like "Brand New Guy" and just disappear?
