Seems like a  concept in America with all the social networking and focus on celebrities and whatnot but I gotta be honest, once I stopped giving a fak about "the Jones'" and people's opinions, my money started looking :leon:.

TBH, the hardest person to cope with on this is my dad. In my family we were always raised to think that status matters and the size of your house MATTERS and what kind of car you drive defines you and whatnot. Now don't get me wrong I like nice shyt and I do want a big ass house but living that day-to-day life for appearances is straight garbage. Or maybe I'd just rather have money in the bank than a bunch of baller shyt. Or hell, maybe I'm just cheap. Who knows.

Anyone else live well beneath their means?

I'm trying to wean myself off consumerism (is that a real word? :russ:) but it will take a while...definitely better than I was last year tho...plus my girl started using them coupons too :hula:

ive learned to live below my means recently also. i mainly do it so i dont have to make a lot of money to maintain a certain lifestyle. basicly, i want to be able to live comfortably even with a $10.00/hr job for example

I not going to sit here and say that I could live lower than I am now. I have lived above my means and I'm currently paying for it now.:snoop: My parents were good at saving. They didn't live too far below their means but we always were taking some kind of trip in the summer if we wasn't going to Six Flags or family reunions in the summer, we was going somewhere out of state. We didn't fly, but we did ride and I think that's why I enjoy traveling now.

I now know that I need to live below my means. People see the car I drive and if they know where I worked they would be like, "man I'd be in this or I'd be in that". I mean, as long as you can afford it, you do you. Just make sure you put some away for a rainy day. I mean, I basically was forced to live below my means because of the IRS. Like I said, I know what I did was wrong and I'm paying for it now. But in a way, this experience has showed me that I can live below my means so when I do pay the IRS off, I can continue to live like this and save money in the process.

Even though I was forced to live below my means I was still able to enjoy trips with my family and friends and that's the most important thing. I'm doing what I'm doing but I'm still able to enjoy going out every once in a while and there is nothing wrong with that. My bills are getting paid and every blue moon I'm able to splurge on something for my family or for me. It's all love and I can appreciate every one saying how they are saving money. I may take some ideas and see how they work out for me.

Got 3000 saved up right now, (2000 in the market)...no new gear or nothing in the last6 months or so and it feels good. I don't know what it is but stacking paper is really underrated. I expect to have 11000 saved up my September.

No doubt. Making a move soon, going to ditch the car for an older truck and motorcycle. Those two will get me anywhere I need to go.

Pay off remaining debt and stack paper all next year.
