So you think we're really bragging about packing our lunch?

:snoop:

I'm talking about all the post starting how they don't do shyt that other people are into.

I take my lunch to work every single day.

My only debt is student loans and a mortgage.

Since I don't have Credit card debt or a huge car payment how better off am I really?

I still have to work till 75. Still only have alloted number of vacation days a year.

How are you saving money if you are spending more than you make? I didn't say anything about anyone enjoying their lives more. I still spend money and enjoy spending that money - I just make sure that I spend less than I bring in. Thats all living below your means is.

Just because you have credit card debt, doesn't mean you can't save money.

Man, you see some of the post in this thread though.

You have to feel me, I'm not championing irresponsibility.

Its not a matter of "not being into what others are into", as you suggest. I go to the club, I buy clothes, I feast on the finest crab meats. I could do even more. But I strike the balance to where I enjoy myself, but put stuff away for a rainy day. Its NORMAL in our culture for people to be in debt for nothing more than having shyt to portray the image of wealth. Thats not the wave, I dont care how you try to spin it.

When you get defensive you start to get emotional and stop making sense. Nobody is attacking you or your choices.

What's the end game though?

I work hard so if I can afford some shyt I'm going to buy it.

I have plenty of money saved and I constantly save but, I'm not going not buy shyt I want because I want to save for no end in sight.

If you got it, be responsible and enjoy it while your young. Don't wait till 60 with a bad back and :flabbynsick:

This is one if the reasons I increased my education and don't want kids. I like to enjoy my self (travel and party) and that takes money.

I like shoes.

My advice would be, understand your vices and don't become a person that has to have cause others do.

Everybody blows money on some shyt

I gotta agree with you here breh. Like you said everyone splurges on something. Some people like clothes, shoes, electronics, trips, sports etc.

I understand people in this thread saying that saving is important, because it is. But i work hard for what i bring in and im going to enjoy it. So if i want a pair of shoes that cost $400 then let me enjoy my $400 shoes. As long as i handle my business before buying those shoes its nothing wrong with that purchase.

I don't think most people really are stressing about savings. At least i`m not.

I was more coming from the spend your money wisely, and spend your money on experiences more than material possessions.

I'm not more so questioning what you saying, but some of these post in here are ludicrous

One person saying that he makes a decent amount of money and people question is he a bumble or depressed :what:

The OP complaining about someone paying 5k a month for house :what:

My overall point is that who's to say someone is going to be happier at the end of the day because they aren't "blowing" the money they worked hard for.

Haha just cuz youre a loser doesnt mean the rest of us are

I forgot I didn't start my on business so I automatically lose at life

Some people value material possessions more than experiences though

Those experiences (vacations) aren't cheap.

My thing is to just budget for shyt.

Whether its vacations, the club, or Js. Treat your vices like any other bill

Its not a matter of being "happy", you are looking at short term happiness

I would love to just quit my job today and go ride my motorcycle across the country. But I have future obligations. Someone who makes poor financial decisions for short term gratifications is an idiot, and that is all people are talking about in this thread.

One thats not what he said at all, there are plenty of "workers" making millions. But if you are planning on working basically till you die so you can "buy shoes" you are not very bright. You dont know what will happen in the future. You might turn 65 and physically be unable to work anymore. You might get laid off. Anything can happen. Then all that shyt you bought and did will be worthless. You can't buy shoes.

Its a balance. You have to enjoy yourself but you also have to plan for the worst. Not saving is like driving around with car insurance.

Yeah but the idea is that when you spend the money on those items, they get old, then you want new items.

Memories last forever and don't depreciate. And not every memory is a vacation, it could be a night out to comedy club with a friend or going to see a sporting event with your family.

I`m not telling people what to enjoy, some people like collecting things. Personally that does nothing for me. Want that new Iphone? shyt is new for 6 months then it's old and you`ll be wanting the new-new. It's an endless cycle

Of course, never said that. However, if you have any significant credit card debt it is likely that you were living beyond your means at some point. Doesn't make much sense to just let credit card interest rack up if you have the cash savings available to take care of it.

My main thing.. i look how warren buffet lives his life and try to follow his rules... That's why i took all money out of certain stocks and bonds and start investing and studied different investments...
I even told people when they ask, i don't have kids or a wife but if i did i would do the same things.. because i'm a cheap motherfuker and my only thing is to live my life the way i want

Yup. I read where Warren said that diversification was for cats who didn't know what they were doing and that you really don't yield any money....

I'm married so it's really 2 incomes going towards the bills. We can afford cable, it's just so overpriced IMO that I have a hard time paying for it when I have access to everything I want already.

I admit... I'm a CHEAP dude breh.
Nah I agree cable is overpriced but I need my directv esp during the football season. I'm not cheap on anything I just try to get the quality stuff on sale as often as possible lol. I'm definitely team save money right along with you though.

Fair enough :ld:

Chasing women doesnt really take time though.

I have a thing where I'll only talk to girls if I happen to be in a coincidental situation. For instance, maybe I am at a basketball game and I happen to be sitting beside them...maybe were both alone waiting for the same bus...shyt like that. I rarely go out of my way, doing the whole trot down to a girl and trying to spit game at them. The most ill do it call em over if theyre already in my vicinity. I just converse and get the number at the end.

Coincidences don't occur enough to sate my sexual appetite.

I hate the lack of consistency following something like this too. It's feast or famine :ld:
