Yall arent ready to fight the poor. Better give them whatever will pacify them.

Whats interesting is how the poor are criticized for looking to the government for handouts by the middle and upper class. The irony is the middle and upper class look to the government for protection from the poor.

Why should the poor get more than those who work not to be poor?

It does! That's why I don't understand what people are arguing for with the national MW. I posted the article about Seattle restaurants struggling to balance tips and pay scale by increasing prices that came out two days ago.

Many localities add to MW and raise their local wages. Then many businesses raise their wage floors to be competitive just ever so slightly.

2% of all American workers make MW. So an increase isn't some radical life changing event.
out of curiosity how many people stand to get a raise if the minimum wage is raised? If minimum wage is 7.5 and they want to raise it to 15 what the % of people who will see an increase in pay. You keep saying 2% get paid minimum wage like that's the end all of the argument. Dude making 7.75 is not making minimum wage but he sure the fuk isn't making a livable wage either.

no the real irony is that the people who recieve the most "handouts" are the upper class and the people who do the handing out are the lower class. That's the real irony. Who benefits most from government aid? It sure the fuk ain't the poor. SS was borrowed against when it shouldn't have been. Foodstamps and ALL other benefit programs amount to dikk in terms of overall budget. The argument that poor people are lazy or simply mooching has been deaded so many times it's mind numbing.

And no they aren't ready to fight the poor. I read an article not to long ago that went over that and how some republicans were starting to see the writing on the wall. They might think the military was protecting them but I think they recognized that they shyt all over the military AND most of the military is poor.

Things can only be pushed so far.

I don't know. It stands to reason that it's more than most people making above MW but below the new wage if it's set at $15.

And what's your point of talking about a living wage.

I don't know what a living wage is. And it seems no one can tell me what it is either.

My definition of a "living wage" is different FOR ME.

It's a low hanging fruit of every worker movement argument.

The real issue is why profitable companies think their workers are worth such low wages in certain industries
It's not that companies THINK anything they are profit driven and as such will do whatever they can to increase profits. IF a company could have you work for free and it not be slavery they'd do that, in fact they do do that with prisoners. The real issue is how we, as a people, have allowed companies to devalue working wages the way they have.
