LL Cool J was a pioneer with amazing longevity

TMAC was none of those things lol

Better comparison is to compare LL Cool J to Julius Erving

Tmac lowkey like Ras-Kass or better yet DMX kind of

started very strong and gradually left the spotlight ... bad comparison with Dmx cause he had ongoing problems

he's somewhere right in between ... maybe Rza? :yeshrug:

LL is like a Magic, Bird or even Hakeem type rapper.

Considered one of the best ever, never viewed as GOAT but not too far from the throne.

he's more like the Isaiah Thomas of rap. Great run at the top but was overshadowed by Jordan and the next generation (Big ,Nas, Pac)

It's crazy how LL bought the term GOAT to rap when he isn't even considered the GOAT in his own borough to most ppl.

He also was musically relevant in the mainstream for like 20+ years which is impressive, Jay is the only other rapper to do that.
Wayne, Kanye :comeon:

Incredibly prolific, but underrated because he's rarely mentioned in the upper echelon of the greatest ever.

Also battled with some heavy weights(kool moe dee, Ice t, canibus) and remained standing:wow:

Influence and pioneering shouldn't always be beclouded by relevance.

This comp is disrespectful to LL. Maybe a better comp is Dr. J.

It's been a regular discussion on hip hop boards for a long time now.... LL had enough of a presence outside of rap that there are multiple generations that don't know his impact or influence on the rappers they champion as the top rappers ever.
