i comparison to ll's it gets not rougher.

which is not as focused.

nor does it illustrate krs's ability to carry production.

as it gets no rougher, and fast peg show evolution for ll.

yet, in comparison to krs and his evolved content and evolved style flipping on blueprint.

ll was not and never at that level of emcee'n.

ll has the best pop mainstream acceptable skilbase in the history of rap.

yet in the overall scope of emcee'n,...krs is the goat.

as he spearheaded or created the rubrick upon which all quality recordings in rap will be judged, in the entire history of rap.

as all large selling culturally credible rap albums that created mainstream alternative genre's and success.

all follow criminal minded, or another subsequent release in krs's discography as an alternative.

U make some great points. KRS was DEF more orginal but LL was slightly more advanced in the 85 and esp 89 in my book.

Rakim spearheaded or created the rubrick upon which all quality recordings in rap will be judged, in the entire history of rap.

U do have me seeing KRS in a different light(his orginality)and I appreciate that.

scott was not a world class battle tested emcee.

he was the director of the homeless group shelter.

whom had a kindred with krs. scott larock was not an emcee thst krs knew to study.

like ll originally sought out moe dee to do.

then met fox after moe dee clowned him at a studio sessio .

where he made him wait for hours and tried to crush ll's young spirit as a kid.

which was despicable,...

if you listen to krs, or even the interview of his brother.

that no known emcee helped in krs's past is clearly illustrated in krs's history.

krs never had a skilled known emcee as a mentor.

on silver fox's level...

as silver fox was queen's most known emcee legend from a street aesthetic.

plus, g rap was also in the fold as a contemporary, of ll.

krs has no contemporary or mentorship of those skills level in history.

so kill all that scot la rock mentored him. scot was not an emcee and was not known at all in any capacity like silver fox. or g rap were in his earlier teen hustler days.

Doesn't mean Scott didn't have access to other EMCEEs that could have helped KRS along. I wasn't at those shelters with them and highly doubt U were too. I can only go on their recordings and my ear has LL as a slightly more lyrical EMCEE in the 80s than KRS. But I have no problem with someone saying KRS was the more Lyrical EMCEE cuzz at times he was in the 80s. KRS reached that apex when he went SOLO, he was a man possessed!!

his style was not derivative, LL's definitely was
he was a double threat and his beats were hard as fukk
he stayed fresh for a lot longer while LL was sounding more and more dated
krs kept me studying different shyt he rhymed about
and most importantly (to me) he never made chick records

ll was not more lyrical in technical rubrick, content or styling.

when compared to krs.

as he had no content base, direction, scope or original technical stylings as an emcee.
whereas krs was completely an original in every way possible as an emcee.

plus spearheaded the newschool way of thought and quality of lp's.

that allowed ll continued success monetary and mainstream wise.

where ll never elongated his content base till close to four to five years. after krs had paved an entire freeway content and direction wise for the entire culture of hiphop through the pillar of emcee'n and business of rap.

ll only influenced the business of rap, after krs did.

ll never used and was never successful in altering the entire scope of the culture.

through just rhyme content devoid of commercialism. krs chsmged the emtire scope of the oldschool way of thought into the newschool wwy of thought.

LL Cool J definitely took lyricism to another level in 86 in terms of rhymes structure and complexity. So we you have to credit him as a pioneer in that sense, as well as his swag (which we called flavor back then) which imo is still unparalleled to this day.

But let's be serious, dude got surpassed easily by Rakim, KRS, G Rap, Kane, and Chuck D shortly thereafter. In terms of the technical aspects of rhyming, Rakim, G Rap, and Kane took it to a whole 'nother level. And as far as content, KRS and Chuck were far beyond LL and his bragadocious raps.

And as far as albums, BDP/KRS dropped 6 straight bangers from 87-93 that were all 4.0 or better with at least two bonafide 5.0s...Criminal Minded and By All Means Necessary.

KRS-One was far more advanced than LL. Listen to what he was saying. Jingling Baby, I'm Bad, I Need Love, Jack the Ripper, Radio, Candy, Pink Cookies, Murdergram, etc. were dope songs. But let's be real for a second, people.

revisionsist history at it's finest. LL DEF altered the entire scope of the culture...good and bad. Many EMCEEEs did and LL was one of them. And he did as a teen. Made a lot older EMCEEs cuzz he was changing the game!!
