How do you have him ahead of Pac and big if LL stuck with that flabby yelling flow. I’m a LL fan but he never was able to adopt that well to the 90s sound.
The overall body of work, and overall impact on HIP HOP and the culture, is why I rank LL over BIG. I personally couldn't stand Pac while he was alive. Yes, it was sad that he was killed. I wasn't able to appreciate him, sadly, until he died. For me, he was too loud and too much. I don't think he could handle LL in a battle without death threats and violence. I don't think this is even close. LL > Pac to me. I do, however, understand Pac's icon status and his popularity. I just don't think he raps as good as LL..

Nah I don't remember that, I honestly ain't followed LL in like 15 years.
But he was still the man in the 90's. "Who Shot Ya", "Doin It", "4, 3, 2, 1", etc.
Keep in mind by that point he was ancient in rap terms. He had been around since the mid 80's.

LL is in my top 20, i never understand why he doesn’t get mentioned with the elite lyricist of the 80s like rakim and kane, kool g etc…he had more longevity but his commercial appeal made alot of rap fans not take him as serious
one of my Goats. Fist rap song I remember the lyrics as a child was going back to cali. he eventually fell off but he had a Great Run only rivaled by other Goats like

And he could rap for the ladies and the brehs too and transitioned into the 90's flawlessly even had a lil success in the early 2000.I met him been to a couple of parties at one of his cribs in NY(used to work with one of his security guys ) and he looks out for his people knows their children plays bball/football normal human shyt that you wouldn't expect from a celebrity/superstar/legend. Again it surprised me how down to earth chill he was the few times I met him. But im the chill type that even thought i might be
I dont hound or treat celebrities like they are aliens or something.

What? 1 of his most well known songs(I Need Love) came out in 87 and he was damn near whispering. Going Back to Cali, I’m That Type of Guy, Big Ole Butt, Smokin Dopin, Clap Your Hands, etc. And this was in the late 80’s.
