:why: What? 1 of his most well known songs(I Need Love) came out in 87 and he was damn near whispering. Going Back to Cali, I’m That Type of Guy, Big Ole Butt, Smokin Dopin, Clap Your Hands, etc. And this was in the late 80’s.

He was the first to continue to re-invent his style. Who else from the 80's was more relevant in the 90s and early 2000's than LL?
Yea LL was one of the few 80s rappers that could reinvent his style lol

That was a weird comment. Musta confused LL with Kool Moe Dee or sum shyt:russ:

Mama Said Knock You Out birthed the 90s
Nah I don't remember that, I honestly ain't followed LL in like 15 years. :mjlol:

But he was still the man in the 90's. "Who Shot Ya", "Doin It", "4, 3, 2, 1", etc.

Keep in mind by that point he was ancient in rap terms. He had been around since the mid 80's.

Fred.
I shot Ya is dope, remix too.
Y’all nikkas ain’t gonna tell me by 13 Shots To The Dome he didn’t start sounding flabby?
lol @ Kool Moe Dee
HOW YA LIKE ME NOW?!!

But then he came back with Mr Smith, which was an undeniable smash among a bunch of 95-96 joints from the young rappers

Hey Lover
Loungin remix
I Shot Ya
Doin It
4321
Flavor In Ya Ear RMX
Ripper Strikes Back

LL did just fine in the 90's after trying to go with the gangster trend on 14 Shots....And stayed relevant among other rappers of the time even into the early 2G's with joints like "Ill Bomb", "Luv U Better," "Paradise", "Headsprung"

Funny thing is he was only 29-30 when the Canibus beef jumped off.

"13 Shots To The Dome" was fukking trash because he was trying to trend hop.

Everybody went hardcore in the mid 90's except for a handful of rappers. Either that, or they were already hardcore and ushered the sound in.

I don't even think it was trash, just below LL's standard. That has some joints on it. I could run it right now and skip half at most.

Yeah but my 2022 ears ain't the same as my 1993 ears. I could probably listen to the album right now and think it's dope.

But in 1993 there was so much shyt dropping this album just wasn't good.

Then again I was :ld: when one of my boys tried to put me up in "Reasonable Doubt" when it dropped. :manny:
