How does the live version sound so much better? The levels on the studio version are all over the place. It makes him sound like he's running out breath .

The live version sounds compressed to hell. Everything is loud as fukk but sounds good with bass at loud volume.
The beat doesnt sound equed to the verse overall.
In my headphones the reg version U can make out the instruments one by one. But the drums dont bang as hard.
The live version the vocal outpowers the beat and can only hear the vocal and drums.
As to which is better? Eh. Preferences.

It's not about him firing his engineers. What he needs is a decent A&R.
He's recording a lot of his sh*t at home, and then sending sessions out to get mixed and mastered. He's green-lighting these final mixes. Engineers are work-for-hire, so they'll do whatever you tell them to when it comes to the sound you're looking for. Thing is, this is how Banks likes his sh*t to sound. So he has multiple engineers mixing in this same way. If he had an A&R to sit with, a good one could tell him that he needs to clean those records up so they don’t get murdered by how other sh*t is sounding today.

He needs a recording engineer to get the proper mic placement and preamp levels too, there's only so much a mix engineers can do to fix a bad recording. Autotune rappers can sometimes get away with bad recordings because they cut all the mid and low frequencies our from their voice.

I can’t even listen to his music anymore cause of this. It’s just lazy. His last few projects have sounded awful
