not sure what you mean by the bolded.

dog, 95% of punchline rappers, are proficient at other styles of lyricism. banks aint doing nothing special. hes always been an excellent lyricist but i never put him in the top-tier, not even for his era.

prime DMX would spank banks in a battle, whether on-wax or in a cypher.

as far as the better lyricist debate goes, it could go either way. i'd say that banks is more consistent, but when X wants to get into that bag, he easily drops a better verse. it depends on how you judge it. i have no problem with someone saying that banks is the better lyricist.

Consistency, like you said Banks is more consistent. I would say the same thing about some of X's contemporaries that he outshined on guest spots.

As for styles, that's true but I legit think Banks painted himself in a corner and gradually found himself, for real for real, not just to stave off criticism and it shows.

i like banks but i BEEN saying that hes overrated on the internet becuz of his platform/alliances.

if he was a "b-team" guy in a less-commercial crew, people would rarely talk about him on this site.
if he was on his own, making some noise coming up thru the street tape circuit back then, people wouldnt be reaching back to talk about him on this site AT ALL.

Californ-i-a by way of BK
Cmon fresh & @SunZoo this is Dmx commenting on banks. X said quote just 2 bars of banks saying something hot. That’s goin to be a story no matter if its before or after or during a quarantine. Unless y’all think banks ain’t about shyt. Then I could understand where y’all coming from. I never heard another volunteer their opinion in that matter about another spitter
To me, X merely told Scoop to list some Banks bars if he's an elite lyricist. Like I said, I just think X don't know Banks stuff like that, so Scoop saying that name threw X off. It's not like X went on a Drake style Breakfast Club rant. He said what he said to prove a point, stop listing people as "great lyricist" when you can't even quote their bars. X was saying anyone he has on his list, he can quote immediately.

Wait people think any version of Banks is fukking with a prime DMX?

This fukking site:mjlol:

nikkas is fukking nuts. Prime DMX is arguably Top 5 to 10 rappers ever did it and dudes in here saying Lloyd Banks washing him on a track.

There's many G-Unit tracks where Banks wasn't even the best and in some cases wasn't even the second best and now dudes in here claiming he's trashing prime DMX :stopitslime:

You saying this because of Lloyd's Eminem connection :russ:

DMX in his prime is thrashing Lloyd Banks on a track 9 times outta 10. X done went toe to toe and even topped MCs like Nas, Jay Z, The Lox and Method Man on tracks and you claiming Lloyd Banks would wash him :russ:

I fukks with Banks but shyt like this is why dudes is saying the Coli overrates him.

if dmx was really this guy like that beyond the sales spike era.
he would not have had such a big head to do wtf he did.

now we get to see what happens.
banks could easily pack dmx out.
DMX would lose off the fact his bread and butter is at best old styles war call and response style era of music. Which was outdated by two sonic landscapes when he dropped.

DMX really should not have said anything.
plus it makes him look outdated.
just off the fact.
one of the last people to pack somebody out definitively in a battle diss song was banks.
that nikkaz have selective memory and start using bullshyt beyond skills discussion in a fake attempt to save face about.

DMX should not have done that.
unless he was really ready and i don't see dmx being of skill.
to take on Lloyd banks at all.
intangibles, like engineering, production and mixing all things that dmx really will not get proper credit for. In a battle where he precipitated it and it being created around a lyrics.

just another one of those got a record deal types. Who lost and then think because they sold. They elevated skill but really just there on some a label threw paper and made it shyt.

this whole idea of you got to be signed.
or you sold is and always bullshyt as far back as Kurtis blow.
DMX gotta battle if banks decide to eat that plate of food.

DMX whole kinda sales fabricated legacy is in jeopardy.
if banks decide to scrape him too.

art barr

If banks has any respect for his craft he would do a diss track to him this week. If no diss track from him then I’ll lose alot of respect for him. Dmx was nice tho don’t get me wrong... but Dmx disrespected him n then said say 4 bars lmaooo..

This the perfect time for Banks to do more music like he been doing these few weeks n also do a diss track. If he fumbles this up then smh

it aint even that deep.

most punchy rappers didnt start out punchy, and had no problem transitioning to other styles when that bubble bursted.

i never dug deep into banks' stuff to know if he had any material before i got put on to him, but i wouldnt be shocked if i found some late '90s audio of him spittin with no punches thrown.
