I agree with you. I think Banks drops more jewels than people think.

@FreshAIG I think Banks is an emcee that references a lot of his previous verses and bars. You get rewarded for listening, and a lot of his music references itself. You know how rappers like Currensy, Evidence, and Boldy James all do small little “world building” things in their catalogues? Banks does that too.

I caught gems in here that I know I would’ve missed if I hadn’t spent the past 7 days bumping his 2010’s catalogue.

I definitely think there would be more identity with a shorter run time. 70 mins in 2021 is a very long album.

props to you representing in this thread, take this rep.

A lot of gems do tend to get buried, at least with me because the flow and schemes are what I notice first so it’ll be a few listens down the line before I catch everything he’s saying. His shyt is very dense with wordplay, rhyme schemes and flows so I’ll be processing one set of bars and overlook the next set while I do.

great, great album though. mixing hasn’t really bothered me but I still noticed it at spots. banks has had worse tho, still a step up from the Halloween Havoc series.

Thanks G!

Honestly I think mixing is a 1st world problem for music fans.

:hubie:

I know everyone on here over 25 has listened to albums that sounds muddy and dingy, but I’ll take dirty with soul over a soulless, clean piece of shyt any day.
:manny:

If you listened to old Wu, any Lox/G-Unit/Rocafella mixtapes in the 2000’s, old Mobb, old Little Brother and Justus League, old Gang Starr and MOP, etc, then you’ve heard a lot of poorly mixed fire. And forget mixing. What about all the mixtape DJs yelling and firing gun shots on every song?

You’re definitely right about the old mixtapes with DJ tags all over them.

BIG MIKE, with the DJ tag 3x louder than the song. fukked up some classic shyt :hhh:

Banks rapping his ass off and still one of the best out, but I thought a lot of these beats were bland outside of some standouts, His AON tapes were better to me

Crown & Smoke & Mirrors are the best to me
Yeah there were some standouts but the beats ain’t fukking with the AON series or even the Halloween Havoc or when he was dropping loosies with blue Friday, at your request etc.

The rapping on this is so good that it’s gonna get played a lot but next album better have amazing production like expensive and shyt lol I know that don’t realistically matter cause the other tapes mentioned weren’t like that but just to shut some of us up for good

The last 5 track run from Panic onwards is just :ohlawd::mjcry:

When Joe said Banks is who he thinks he is, I see what he meant. Drops mad jewels but in different ways and this album is really what I'd expect a Joe album to sound like if he dropped a body of work like this ngl. Really hope we get the deluxe with a Joe verse.

Just incase anyone ever tries to throw smut on his name

being a Joe budden fan has me wanting everything to be mixed and mastered perfectly tbh..his excuse for shytty audio quality was exactly because he wanted it to have a grimy sound, to each his own but I think it’s a terrible idea lol

love this track, Joe’s wordplay is crazy all throughout his verse, I honestly think that’s my favourite banks project along with CC2
