Still AOTY for me.

A lot of people have been talking about the engineering and how it was mixed. Banks records a lot in his crib. That's kinda always been his thing. For this project, people sent him a lot of the tracks and he recorded a lot of these vocals right at the home studio. Your engineer has to be ill as shyt to take home recorded joints and turn them into something gold and clean. But COVID had a lot of people doing shyt right at the crib. Even with that though, this is top-shelf NY grimy Hip Hop. He came through for us.

Stranger Things is such a classic Banks track. Bars, tight flow, introspective and a classic Banks hook. Beautiful track.

I just HATE how this album is mixed and I know it's been said but why couldn't Banks pay for better engineering on this? The album would bang so much harder if it was mixed more cleanly. It sounds very rough, practically the way the vocals are laid. Sound like they sitting on the track and not MIXED in. Same with the instruments. It's like the levels are fukked up on the volume of certain sounds. Just sounds off. Other than that, Banks put together a very nice project. Gonna have this one in rotation

I gotta call this AOTY as well. Mixing aside its pure fire and like I said already, it’s refreshing. The term ‘restoring the feeling’ tends to get tossed around a lot, but this shyt is legit bringing back the pure bars vibe :blessed::blessed:

50 is not gonna let the public think banks is talking about him on stranger things without either making banks stand on it or clarify that he wasn’t talking about 50

I wouldn’t be surprised if banks follows up with a tweet in the next 24 hours saying he wasn’t talking about 50 lol

or I could just be completely reaching
Banks is not scared of 50 and 50 made it clear that they don't even speak.

Banks says all the time he doesn't like drama attached to his name especially when he has music out

Naw.. I know a guy who engineers out his basement with just a PC and a decent mic who went to school for that mixing shyt and his mixes are cleaner than whatever Bombaye is doing for Banks…. Hell, it’s cats on this forum that rap who’s stuff is mixed better.

I think the last Banks project that was properly mixed was CC2

Just because you record at home doesn’t mean you can’t have better quality… no excuse, but at the end of the day it must be a helluva album if all we can nitpick about is the quality lol

I’ve gotten used to it by now but if you listen to CC2 and everything after excluding the G-Unit reunion stuff then you can tell the difference

I went to Bombaye’s page and it’s a bunch of ppl praising his mixing so I guess some ppl have high praise

50 didn’t do shyt. He was mad disrespectful towards banks in his book and banks still hasn’t responded in kind by mentioning him by name...which I respect because banks owes 50 si much.
They both made eachother money. Yes 50 broke banks but Banks versus on the two Gunit albums and the mixtapes made him money too Banks also wrote in da club his biggest hit. 50 made Banks more money than Banks made him but Banks put in work and it was his idea to get unti back together in 2014
