When I was working on the Max B: Library of a Legend, I spoke with the head of Max’s record company at the time (DJ Next at Amalgam Digital). I was like, do you have any of Max’s classics mixed and mastered properly so we can put them on the LOAL? He said, nah, Max told him he prefers his songs to be unpolished and grimey. We were both like :francis:

Next said he offered professionally mixed and mastered songs at his studio. Max wasn’t into it.

So, yeah, some people like the grimey, poorly mixed, song sound. :yeshrug:
That’s the dumbest thing these rappers can do man smh. The only time it sounds dope is when it has that cracking sound like it’s being played on a vinyl or cassette and it’s done on purpose to give an old feel. A example I can think of is Jesus LP by Blu and it actually was cool but max and banks not mixing their shyt is just foolish cause they’d benefit so much by doing it. Im not a engineer so I don’t always notice.

it's pretty good.

still has the same problems as most Banks stuff since the voice and style change.
it just blends into one long song after a while. it's why he put most of the features in the first half. keep the people engaged.

I like that in this era he'll still go back in for a third verse after the feature
but Banks is not an easy listen for over an hour and he can't elevate boring/bad beats due to his lack of charisma these days.

theres songs like Falsified were everything works. the beat, Banks voice just right on it, Ransom's verse etc
that second verse on Drop 5 my shyt. Smoke & Mirrors one of my favorites too.

the person that mixes Cam's album must've mixed this.

couple songs on here sound like Banks recorded in his car hiding from his BM.
especially on The Food. that beat sounds like some soundclick bullshyt too.

Roc recorded his verse in his crib in his little set up like he was doing a demo for himself. Vado's is weird too but it actually works.
