Let's not fool ourselves. Banks is definitely a goat but the problem is he's not popular. Not many people have the knowledge of his discog to even debate against it.
This is majorly true, but I've always wondered (not just with Banks but with anyone) does someone have to be popular to be in a GOAT discussion?

Guys like DOOM and Black Thought aren't very popular outside of the underground/indie scene, but a lot of people would put them in GOAT emcee debates.

But on the other hand, I feel where you're coming from. Something about the artist being more well known does add a little something to the discussion.

Did 50 post banks album. I don't feel like going to go check. Just some curiosity on my part

For that matter, any of the G unit members post it

I'm sure this has been discussed. Pardon me
Yayo definitely posted about it. I've heard he's a pretty cool dude actually, and he seems to show love to a lot of artists. I don't know if 50 or Buck posted anything about it.

For a hip hop head no it doesn't matter. Banks is in my top 5 personally too. And that's not just lyrically I'm saying overall :yeshrug:

But the problem is on a broad spectrum it's too easy to say it cause most just haven't heard him. Compared to someone like Wayne where even if you disagree is a hip hop head, u can still respect his placement in someone's list. But with banks, the opposing person can't do nothing except say they haven't heard enough banks

Lloyd Banks | Billboard

Just checked LLoyd Banks Billboard Album Sales for the week of 6.19.21 The Course of the inevitable peaked at #16...Thats very good without much promo or main stream features or proper engineering or known beat producers.

Lets face it if Banks puts out HFM3 or CC3 with 30 days of proper promo and J Cole/Joe Budden some known mainstream artists that album will hit top 10 on Billboard

In 2004 HFM hit #1 who had an album peak at #1 in 2004 or sooner and can still put out a top 10 album today in Rap? Keep in mind LLoyd banks over the past 10 years is Rap its not Hip/hop its a finer category of rap. This makes it tougher.

and to answer my question you would struggle to list 10 current artists that havent left the game or are still alive...Sure Jay Z, Sure Nas, Sure 50......but those are Goats by these facts Banks is in the Goat convo....He solidifies this if he releases one more studio album and does it right from a publicity standpoint. He needs to put 200k into it...He will get it back...Pay for proper high end studio, engineer and these public outlets to talk about ur shyt...He will sell 50k in a week if he does it right

Banks gotta treat it like a business and put up more bread to push his next project...He will get it all back and more hes gotta flip. Can't just rely on Hovains ass to push the project and get unknown beats people and features for free....

This project was his 3rd or 2nd best body of work and is great but I want him to be top 10 on billbord and hes gotta put up the bread and point it in the right direction

Banks doesn’t have a business mentality. You’d think he would after all those years around 50 but naw.. that just ain’t him

He’s preaching “completely independent” and he’s probably satisfied with where he’s at. Us as fans of course want more but it is what it is.

Banks needs a machine around him to do everything for him or make him do stuff like Interscope did.

Hovain is a tool to get him on podcasts, etc but they’ve already said they ain’t doin all that for this release so it is what it is

Yeah and I agree that it’s totally fine. In fact I could see someone actively not wanting that mentality after spending time around someone like 50, that’s business-minded 24/7.

Not everyone wants to live that way and it’s cool.

It seems like Banks’ fans want a lot more tangible measuring sticks of success than Banks does.

This, a hundred million times. Banks doesn't want it, and for that reason he will never do all the promo and trendy beats/features that people in this thread have been asking for. It's just not going to happen. Personally I'm just thankful that he's releasing music again--on his own terms.
