i love the wire but the downside to the show was how half of the actors got away with not using the baltimore accent. come on now. i'm NOT from baltimore and never lived there any time in my life but down there, they are very distinct with their accents. it's really not hard to drop that U. michael williams tried though. that's the only actor from the show that's not from baltimore that tried.

apparently david simon and ed burns told all the actors not to worry about that for whatever reason. it bothered me sometimes too but the show was so amazing i let it slide. like season two first episode when bodie is in the van leaving the city and can't believe that radio is different outside the city limits. when he says aloud that he wonders why anyone would want to leave baltimore with an up top hood ny/jersey accent it's kinda wild

stringer sounding like an '88 new york nikka, omar sounding like a flatbush brooklyn nikka with dirty south overtones until he started doing the "tew" thing and switching it up around season 4. you know what chill. lemme stop nitpicking at the goat show lol
