I think it comes down to the role people want Roc in. With Surf, Roc is very clearly the #2, even if its his style material that sometimes gets the bigger reactions. It's just... Surf is a presence; he's perceived as being higher-tiered than Roc, so, Tay gotta play Robin and get his shyt in where he can.
With Chess, Roc can little-brother him in turn. So it's like Nightwing going out there with the new Robin - he gets tom be in charge, but they relate a bit better to each other, seems like.
That being said... I don't like Roc that much, and I can't believe shyt Chess says because he weighs a buck-fifteen and the recoil off a .22 would probably sprain his wrist so all the tough talk just can't click right. Which is ironic considering JC and Nitty both in my current top 5. Maybe it's the youth - hell, probably is the youth. Or maybe cuh just need to get in an off-season weight program and a few tattoos - dunno. Battle rap is image-based, alas.

Nah. I grew up in EPA - we had scrawny nikkas really out there killing . First time someone pulled a gun on me, I outweighed him by prolly 70 lbs. But Chess doesn't ring like someone who believes the gun shyt he says. It's not coincidence that his 'we was struggling' type bars are the ones that ring the most true. He's someone with a good pen, but he comes off like someone who just grew up watching battles and had a nice pen, as opposed to someone who grew up around nikkas like it and could write from that perspective.
