I never got the "fake tough guy" rhetoric in basketball, the point of talking shyt is to get in your opponents head if your reaction is "bbbut he's not really like that ill beat him up off the court" then he did his job by getting you emotional
This would be valid if he got the likes of Bron or Timothy to swing on him. Instead they gave him that work while laughing in his face. He never got anybody off their game with this. He just got himself bowed in the jaw by a role player
And you can't literally run away if you gonna pull that shyt . You gotta at least be willing to take that fade if that's the kinda mindgames you wanna play.

If he was hurt early, I don't remember it because he became the explosive dunker and finisher in the league.
I think he was just limited offensively and a bit undersized at the 4. Also just filling a lane on fast breaks with Kidd was good for 6-8 points a game.Nets got production out of him but it was based on the supreme vision PG he played with.
