A walk is not an official at-bat. A sacrifice fly (a fly ball that results in an out, but scores a run) is not an official at-bat. A sacrifice bunt is not an official at-bat. A batter could have 5, 6, 7, etc... plate appearances in a game, but finish 0-0. The fact that a General Manager of a Major League Baseball team doesn't know this is mind blowing.
