Well I think that's something that's needed for those who are currently in this predicament, but I think that it's just a matter of the incoming class of college students just doing their homework on the reality of the situation.
There are so many options available today that weren't even a thought 15 years ago that there really isn't an excuse not to have minimal college debt. I know I wouldn't wait on some sweeping legislation to address college debt reform, I'd actually buckle down and go with another plan.
It's basically the millennial equivalent of/prelude to a mortgage at this point, I know relatively few people (myself included) who manage to pay all of it, esp without major parental help. It's def a major reason why grad school is looking more to me everyday.

At my college (and I'm sure this is true with Ivys) you can always go back to their employment office for jobs, plus they always allow you to connect with specific recruiters and attend job fairs.

I'm in shytty limbo because I can't find anything in my field while at the same time being pressured to go to grad school. I might go anyway
Its truely a scam. They let you think that you can full-time school by taking out a loan but its better to just get a job and use all the money you make to pay for school. I did that and my loans at 4,600.00 and thats it.

school is an investment, not a right or privilege. If you choose poorly, and don't position yourself to get a job in a field that will help you pay off and manage your loans, then that's on YOU.
You don't need to borrow money in order to go to college. While student loans themselves are an issue (who lets people straight out of highschool borrow THOUSANDS of dollars), borrowing money without knowing what you're signing up for is the bigger issue.
