Back in the late 90s during a champ car race a couple of tires flew into the stands and killed a couple of spectators. The race just kept going and announcers and drivers were never even notified. Tire tethers were added after that and the catch fence designs were changed. That incident probably saved these people's lives. I love going to races but man that possibility is always on my mind.
