I usually go when my car says that my oil life is at 10% or under. I have my wife's set to send a reminder at 5,500 miles. Cars today can go a lot longer than cars in the past. Hers runs just fine and so does mine.

Probably 8000 on my old Conour. I got lazy. Newer Porsches and BMWs will let you go out to 15000. I tend to go with 7500 these days.

Change mines every 10K

use synthetic Oil
Either Pennzoil Ultra or Mobile 1 Extended Performance.

May cost me $40 for a oil change but Im spending less than somebody changing every 3k
